Xavier Becerra
Xavier Becerra (; born January 26, 1958) is an American attorney and politician who served as the 25th United States secretary of health and human services, a position he held from March 19, 2021 to January 20, 2025. He is the first Latino to hold the position. Becerra previously served as the attorney general of California from January 2017 until March 2021. He was a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing downtown Los Angeles in Congress from 1993 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Becerra was Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus from 2013 to 2017. Richard Lee Mountjoy (January 13, 1932 – May 18, 2015) was an American Republican politician from Monrovia, California. He served in the California State Assembly from 1978 to 1994, and the California State Senate from 1994 to 2000. He was also the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2006. Early life and education Calderon was born on March 12, 1950, in Montebello, California.
