XVI Corps (United States)
The XVI Corps was a corps-sized formation of the United States Army. History Interwar period XVI Corps (I) The XVI Corps was authorized by the National Defense Act of 1920 and was to be composed of units of the Organized Reserve located primarily in the Sixth Corps Area. The headquarters and headquarters company were constituted on 29 July 1921 in the Regular Army, allotted to the Sixth Corps Area, and assigned to the Fifth Army. The headquarters was organized in October 1922 with Organized Reserve personnel at Detroit, Michigan. The headquarters company was organized on 18 October 1922 with Organized Reserve personnel at Saginaw, Michigan, and relocated on 1 October 1926 to Detroit. The headquarters was withdrawn from the Regular Army on 1 October 1933 and demobilized. Corps (; plural ''corps'' ; from French , from the Latin "body") is a term used for several different kinds of organization. The Ninth Army was a field army of the United States Army, most recently garrisoned at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy. It was the United States Army Service Component Command of United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM or AFRICOM). Far East Command (FECOM) was a unified combatant command of the United States Department of Defense, active from 1947 until 1957, functionally organised to undertake the occupation of Japan and Korea. Camp Kilmer
Camp Kilmer is a former United States Army camp in Central New Jersey that was activated in June 1942 as a staging area and part of an installation of the New York Port of Embarkation. The camp was organized as part of the Army Service Forces Transportation Corps. Troops were quartered at Camp Kilmer in preparation for transport to the European Theater of Operations in World War II. Eventually, it became the largest processing center for troops heading overseas and returning from World War II, processing over 2.5 million soldiers. It officially closed in 2009. Origins and history The camp was named for Joyce Kilmer, a poet killed in World War I while serving with 69th Infantry Regiment. 95th Infantry Division (United States)
The 95th Infantry Division was an infantry division of the United States Army. Today it exists as the 95th Training Division, a component of the United States Army Reserve headquartered at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
