World Youth Day 2019
World Youth Day 2019 ( es, Jornada Mundial de la Juventud 2019) was the 16th World Youth Day, an international event organized by the Catholic Church and focused on faith and youth. Taking place 22–27 January in Panama City, Panama, it was the first of its kind celebrated in Central America. Pope Francis announced plans for the event at the end of the closing Mass of World Youth Day 2016 in Brzegi near Kraków, Poland, on 31 July 2016. Theme On 22 November 2016, Pope Francis announced the theme for World Youth Day 2019: '' I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word'' ( Lk 1:38). José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, OSA, is the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Panama. He was born in Chitré, Panama, December 24, 1956, was ordained priest on December 17, 1983 in Chitre and was consecrated a bishop on April 17, 2004, taking canonical possession of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Panama on April 18, 2010. The Mass is the central liturgical service of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church, in which bread and wine are consecrated and become the body and blood of Christ.
