Wolfgang Sobotka
Wolfgang Sobotka (born 5 January 1956 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs) is an Austrian teacher, conductor and politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) who has been the president of the Austrian National Council since 20 December 2017. Early life and education The son of a teacher, Sobotka studied history at the University of Vienna, cello and music education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and conducting at the Bruckner Conservatory, Linz. Career From 1972 to 1998, he first was a teacher at the local music school in his hometown Waidhofen an der Ybbs and then head of the school. From 1980 to 1987 he was a grammar school teacher. From 1980 to 1987, he held the office of city archivist in that town and from 1989 to 1998 was a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. The President of the National Council is the presiding officer of the National Council, the lower house of the Austrian Parliament. Since December 2017 Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) has served as the current President of the National Council, Doris Bures (SPÖ) as the Second President and Norbert Hofer (FPÖ) as the Third. All three Presidents together form the Presidium of the National Council. In the Austrian order of precedence the President of the National Council places after the President and before the Chancellor. Tulln an der Donau () is a historic town in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, the administrative seat of Tulln District. The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic ( it, Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) is the senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi.
