William Webster (baseball)
William Webster (June 1, 1896 – death unknown) was an American Negro league catcher between 1915 and 1933. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Webster made his Negro leagues debut in 1915 with the St. Louis Giants. He went on to enjoy a long career with several teams, and made his final appearance in 1933 for the Indianapolis ABCs (1931–1933), Indianapolis ABCs/Detroit Stars. William Gourlay Webster
William Gourlay Webster (September 25, 1884 – February 18, 1965) was a civil engineer, land surveyor and politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented London in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1943 to 1948 as a Progressive Conservative. The son of Reverend Andrew F. Webster and Annie Gourlay, he was born in Toronto and was educated in Orillia and at the University of Toronto. Webster practised as a civil engineer in Dunnville and Brantford from 1907 to 1914. In 1912, Webster received his commission as an Ontario Land Surveyor. He served overseas as a lieutenant with the Canadian Engineers during World War I; then, from 1919 to 1927, he operated his own construction company. From 1927 to 1932, Webster worked on levees in Missouri. In 1933, he became the founder and president of the Webster Air Equipment Company in London. His son John B. William Webster (1855-1910) was an English chemical engineer credited with developments in gas detection, sewage treatment and medical use of x-rays. A gifted artist and musician, Webster also helped found the Blackheath Concert Halls and the adjacent Conservatoire in Blackheath in south-east London during the 1890s. Career Webster was the son of William Webster, a successful building contractor who grew wealthy from constructing major civil engineering and building projects in London. The family lived from 1869 in Wyberton House in Lee Terrace, Blackheath. The younger William Webster trained as a chemical engineer. William Webster (May 1819 – 1 February 1888) was a British builder who worked with architects and engineers such as Gilbert Scott and Joseph Bazalgette and is especially associated with several embankments of the River Thames. Career Born in the small Lincolnshire village of Wyberton in 1819, Webster apprenticed to the Boston, Lincolnshire builder Mr. Jackson. Immediately following his apprenticeship, Webster became a builder in Wyberton and was initially involved in the refurbishment and renovation of a number of churches in Lincolnshire (working with Sir Gilbert Scott on Algakirk church) and the surrounding counties as well the building of Boston's Exchange Building. The John Fritz Medal has been awarded annually since 1902 by the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) for "outstanding scientific or industrial achievements". The medal was created for the 80th birthday of John Fritz, who lived between 1822 and 1913. William Webster (theologian)
William Webster (December 1689 – 4 December 1758) was a British priest in the Church of England and a theological writer. Life Born at Cove, Suffolk in December 1689, was the son of Richard Webster (d. 1722), by his wife Jane, daughter of Anthony Sparrow; his father was a nonjuring clergyman, who later submitted and became vicar of Poslingford. Webster was educated at Beccles, and was admitted to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, on 2 March 1708. He graduated B.A. in 1712, M.A. in 1716, and D.D. in 1732. Webster was ordained deacon on 24 June 1713 as curate of Depden in Suffolk, and priest on 26 February 1716 as curate of St. Dunstan-in-the-West, London. Leaving St. Dunstan's in 1731, he was appointed in August 1732 to the curacy of St Clement, Eastcheap, and in February 1733 was presented to the rectory of Depden. William Bennett Webster
William Bennett Webster (January 18, 1798 – April 4, 1861) was a medical doctor, amateur geologist and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented King's County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1855 to 1861. He was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, the son of Doctor Isaac Webster and Prudence Bentley. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh The University of Edinburgh ( sco, University o Edinburgh, gd, Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann; abbreviated as ''Edin.'' in post-nominals) is a public research university based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
