William Mackay (artist)
William Andrew Mackay (1876 - July 26, 1939) was an American artist who created a series of murals about the achievements of Theodore Roosevelt. Those three murals, completed in 1936, were installed beneath the rotunda in the Roosevelt Memorial Hall of the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Less known but also important, he was a major contributor to the development of ship camouflage in the United States during World War I. Biography Mackay was born in 1876 in Philadelphia to Elizabeth J. and Frank F. Mackay. After high school, he studied at the City College of New York, the Académie Julian in Paris, and the American Academy in Rome. As a muralist, he completed projects for the Library of Congress, the American Museum of Natural History, the Minnesota State House of Representatives, and other locations. William Andrew MacKay
William Andrew MacKay (March 20, 1929 – January 12, 2013) was a Canadian lawyer and former judge, civil servant, legal academic, and university president. Education and early career Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the son of Robert Alexander MacKay and Mary Kathleen Junkin, MacKay received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950, a Bachelor of Law degree in 1953, and a Master of Law degree in 1954 from Dalhousie University. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1954 and was created a Queen's Counsel in 1973. He joined the Department of External Affairs in 1954 where he worked as a Foreign Services Officer. From 1955 to 1957, he was an Assistant Secretary of the Royal Commission on Canada's Economic Prospects. Academic career In 1957, he became an assistant professor at Dalhousie University. William Paton Mackay (13 May 1839 – 22 August 1885) was a Scottish doctor, Presbyterian minister and hymn writer. Biography Mackay was born in Montrose, Angus, Scotland, on 13 May 1839. William MacKay (politician)
William MacKay (September 11, 1847 – November 8, 1915) was a physician and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Cape Breton County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1886 to 1890 and from 1894 to 1897 as a Conservative member and sat for Cape Breton division in the Senate of Canada from 1912 to 1915. Biography He was born in Earltown, Nova Scotia, the son of John MacKay, a Scottish immigrant. He was educated in Earlton, Pictou and New York City. In 1875, he married Catherine Campbell Sutherland. William Alexander Mackay
William Alexander Mackay (10 July 1860 – 14 July 1927) was a Scottish medical doctor who worked for the Rio Tinto mining company and co-founded Spain's oldest football club, Recreativo de Huelva. Early life William Mackay was born in Latheron, Caithness, on 10 July 1860, the son of Anglican priest Reverend John Mackay and Wilhelmina Sutherland. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a medical degree in 1882. Medical career In 1883 William Mackay began practicing as a doctor for the Rio Tinto mining company in Minas de Riotinto Huelva, Andalusia, Spain. His brother, John Sutherland Mackay, was the company's chief medical officer and the president of the company's football team.
