West Scranton High School
West Scranton High School, is a community-based school in the "West Side" neighborhood of Scranton, Pennsylvania, United States. It is one of the oldest schools in the area, having opened to the public in 1935, first as a junior high facility and later as a high school. It offers about 32 clubs and 17 sports, and hosts grades 9 through 12. Robert DeLuca is the school's current principal. The school colors are royal blue and white and the mascot is the Invader. It is a public school enrolling approximately 1,000 students, with an average of about 250 students in each grade. Nick Chickillo
Nicholas Angelo Chickillo (October 17, 1930 – February 5, 2000) was an American football player who played one season with the Chicago Cardinals (NFL, 1920–59), Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals in the fifteenth round of the 1953 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Miami and attended West Scranton High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Tyra Vaughn (March 13, 1923 – August 9, 2015) was an American actress, model, and showgirl, who appeared in motion pictures and television throughout the 1940s and late 1950s, and who later found a second career as a professional dance instructor. Matthew James "Matt" McGloin (born December 2, 1989) is a former American football quarterback. He was the starting quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 2010 to 2012. McGloin was the first walk-on quarterback to start at Penn State since scholarships were reinstated in 1949. Donald Walter Jonas (born December 3, 1938) is a former American football player and coach. Jonas played in the American minor leagues (semi-pro) and the Canadian Football League. He was also the first head coach of the UCF Knights (1979–1981). Playing career College football Jonas played college football at Penn State University. Cosmo Iacavazzi
Cosmo Joseph Iacavazzi (some sources say Cosmo Iacovazzi, born August 18, 1943) is a former American football player. A fullback, he played college football at Princeton University and was a member of the Tiger Inn eating club. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002. After graduating from Princeton, he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL), but played professionally in the American Football League (AFL) for the New York Jets in 1965; Iacavazzi was on the roster for two games. William James Ferrario (born September 22, 1978 in Scranton, Pennsylvania) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League primarily with the Green Bay Packers. Early years Ferrario graduated from West Scranton High School. He is an Eagle Scout.
