Wagaman, Northern Territory
Wagaman is a suburb of the Australian city of Darwin, Northern Territory. It lies in the band of locations known as the northern suburbs. An established residential area, Wagaman is bounded by Vanderlin Drive in the north, Lee Point Road in the east, Parer Drive in the south and Trower Road in the west; these confines correspond to the neighbouring suburbs of Alawa, Moil, Anula, Wanguri and Casuarina. History Development of the area was primarily during the 1970s, with much of the area built before Cyclone Tracy struck in 1974 and caused severe damage. Major features of the area include Wagaman Primary School, Wagaman Park and a small shopping centre. Wagaman has experienced a decrease in population between 1996 and 2001, the result of stability in the number of dwellings and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling. Anula is a Northern suburb of Darwin, Northern Territory, in the Northern Territory of Australia. The suburb lies to the east of Lee Point Road and to the north of McMillans Road and covers an area of . The suburb lies to the north of Darwin International Airport which is also known as RAAF Base Darwin. The streets in Anula are named after early NT Mines and mineral fields. Pine Creek, Northern Territory
Pine Creek is a small town in the Katherine, Northern Territory, Katherine region of the Northern Territory, Australia. As at the 2016 Australia Census, 2016 Census there were 328 residents of Pine Creek, which is the fourth largest town between Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin and Alice Springs. Pine Creek is just off the Stuart Highway (the road from the south to Darwin) and is still a notable tourist stop. A number of events are held each year to promote the town in the region. Cyclone Tracy
Cyclone Tracy was a tropical cyclone that devastated the city of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, from 24 to 26 December 1974. The small, developing easterly storm had been observed passing clear of the city initially, but then turned towards it early on 24 December. After 10:00 p.m. ACST, damage became severe, and wind gusts reached before instruments failed. The anemometer in Darwin Airport control tower had its needle bent in half by the strength of the gusts. Residents of Darwin were celebrating Christmas, and did not immediately acknowledge the emergency, partly because they had been alerted to an earlier cyclone ( Selma) that passed west of the city, and did not affect it in any way. The City of Darwin is a local government area of the Northern Territory, Australia.
