WVFM, known simply as 106.5 Jack FM and formerly WQLR, is an adult hits outlet serving the Kalamazoo, Michigan radio market. The station's frequency is 106.5 MHz on the FM dial with an ERP of 33 kW. They are owned by Midwest Communications. WVFM 106.5 is located on a crowded Frequency across south-west lower Michigan. WZOX (96.5 FM) is a radio station in Portage, Michigan. The station currently broadcasts a modern adult contemporary format branded as "Hits 96.5". History Early history 96.5 FM signed on in December 1988 as WLWJ owned by Larry Langford, Jr. Langford owned stations in Chicago and South Bend such as WVON and WLLJ-AM 910 (now WGTO). WLWJ was mixed of a Rhythm leaning oldies rock station. 96.5 UBU In February 1991, the calls were changed to WUBU, as "96.5 UBU" with an urban adult contemporary format. Midwest Communications is a Wausau, Wisconsin-based radio broadcasting company. WKMI (1360 AM) is a radio station licensed to Kalamazoo, Michigan broadcasting a news-talk format. WKMI is an affiliate of the Grand Valley State Laker football radio network. The studios and offices are on West Main Street in Kalamazoo. WKZO's transmitter is a four-tower array on McKinley Street at 21st Street North in Cooper Township, Michigan.
