WSTRN
WSTRN (a disemvoweling of the word Western, which is also pronounced), is a British afroswing collective from West London consisting of Akelle Charles, Haile (born Ras Haile Alexander), and Louis Rei (born Louis-Rae Beadle). Their debut single, "In2", was released on 20 July 2015, and peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. Louis Rei was formerly known as LB, Akelle was formerly known as A-Star and is Haile's cousin. Haile has featured on several tracks as a solo artist, including "Can't Blame Me" by Nines. Background WSTRN consists of Akelle Charles, Haile and Louis Rei. The name bears no relevance to westerns; according to the band, the name represents positive vibrations and to them means that it is "West London's turn to shut down the scene". "In2" is the debut single by British R&B trio WSTRN. It was released on 20 July 2015 by Atlantic Records. The song peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart, having initially reached number 60 based on streams alone. Background and release The song was originally accompanied by a low-budget video of a West London block party directed by Morgan Keyz, and uploaded onto the Link Up TV YouTube channel. It was credited as Akelle Charles featuring Haile and Louis Rei, and was due to be released as the first single from the trio's EP, ''Western Union''. However, the three artists adopted the collective name WSTRN following the song's popularity, and re-branded the song with a new video following its signing to Atlantic Records. "Got Love" is a song by English R&B/rap trio WSTRN. It was produced by Parallel, a collective consisting of Angel and prgrshn. The song was released on 2 December 2015 for free download upon subscribing to their mailing list, and was also released via digital retailers on 4 December. An accompanying video was also released on 4 December, directed by Morgan Keyz, who shot the original video for " In2". The group have expressed via Twitter that the song "isn't the next single". According to ''Clash Music ''Clash'' is a music and fashion magazine and website based in the United Kingdom. Sirach Charles (born 31 October 1987), better known by his stage name Angel, is an English singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer from West London, England. His single " Go In, Go Hard", featuring vocals from English rapper Wretch 32, was released on 18 March 2012. The song reached number 41 on the UK Singles Chart. The following single, " Wonderful", performed better commercially, peaking at number nine on the UK Singles Cchart and topping the UK R&B Chart. The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin, also known as the MOBOs) are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in " music of black origin", including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music. The MOBO Organisation was founded by Kanya King, and the first MOBO award was presented to Baby D, in the Best Dance Act category. The inaugural awards were broadcast by Carlton Television from London's Connaught Rooms. Afroswing, also known as Afrobashment, or less commonly Afrobbean or Afro-trap (not to be confused with the French genre), is a genre of music that developed in the UK during the mid-2010s, derivative of dancehall and afrobeats, with influences from trap, hip hop, R&B, and grime. Commercially, the genre has been very successful, with many afroswing artists making it into the British charts. Characteristics Afroswing is largely defined by its melody rather than a specific tempo. Producer Steel Banglez stated the key elements of afroswing were happy or dark chords that "make you feel a certain way", and that "drum pattern is the most important thing about this whole sound, it's the snare that comes on the third. In hip-hop it comes on the fourth. Coming off the third beat comes from afrobeats." Earlan Bartley (born December 19, 1993), better known as Alkaline, is a Jamaicans, Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae musician from Kingston, Jamaica. Gary Beadle (born 8 July 1965) is a British actor, best known for playing Paul Trueman in '' EastEnders'' and Gary Barwick in ''Operation Good Guys''. Life and career Beadle was raised as one of five children in Bermondsey, South London, where he was baptised a Roman Catholic. David Victor Emmanuel (10 February 1963 – 15 March 2011), better known as Smiley Culture, was a British reggae singer and DJ known for his "fast chat" style.
