The West African Power Pool (WAPP) is a cooperation of the national electricity companies in Western Africa under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The members of WAPP are working for establishing a reliable power grid for the region and a common market for electricity. It was founded in 2010. Women Against Private Police
Women Against Private Police (WAPP) was an organization based in Baltimore, Maryland, that focused on opposing the creation of a private police force at Johns Hopkins University. History Women Against Private Police was founded on April 3, 2019. The organization was started by a group of women who live near the Johns Hopkins campuses in Baltimore. The group formed after the Maryland General Assembly passed a bill allowing Johns Hopkins to own and operate an armed police force with full police powers under Maryland law that has jurisdiction over Baltimore campuses and private residential neighborhoods in the vicinity of Hopkins properties. WAPP was a ballot issue committee registered for the purpose of launching a petition drive. If the petition drive had been successful, voters in 2020 would have been given a choice to decide whether or not a private corporation should be allowed to operate a police force with jurisdiction over public streets. WKTU (103.5 FM) is a rhythmic adult contemporary formatted radio station licensed to Lake Success, New York, a suburb of New York City. WKTU is owned by iHeartMedia and broadcasts from studios in the former AT&T Building in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan; its transmitter is located at the Empire State Building. History WGLI-FM–WTFM (1958–1982) In 1958, 103.5 MHz was assigned to Babylon, New York for WGLI-FM, simulcasting sister station WGLI 1290AM. Josephine Myers-Wapp (February 10, 1912 – October 26, 2014) was a Comanche weaver and educator. After completing her education at the Haskell Institute, she attended Santa Fe Indian School, studying weaving, dancing, and cultural arts. After her training, she taught arts and crafts at Chilocco Indian School before joining the faculty of the newly opened Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. She taught weaving, design, and dance at the Institute, and in 1968 was one of the coordinators for a dance exhibit at the Mexican Summer Olympic Games. In 1973, she retired from teaching to focus on her own work, exhibiting throughout the Americas and in Europe and the Middle East. She has work in the permanent collection of the IAIA and has been featured at the Smithsonian Institution.
