Women's Army Corps
The Women's Army Corps (WAC) was the women's branch of the United States Army. It was created as an auxiliary unit, the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) on 15 May 1942 and converted to an active duty status in the Army of the United States as the WAC on 1 July 1943. Its first director was Colonel Oveta Culp Hobby. The WAC was disbanded in 1978, and all units were integrated with male units. History The WAAC's organization was designed by numerous Army bureaus coordinated by Lt. Col. Gillman C. Mudgett, the first WAAC Pre-Planner; however, nearly all of his plans were discarded or greatly modified before going into operation because he expected a corps of only 11,000 women. Without the support of the War Department, Representative Edith Nourse Rogers of Massachusetts introduced a bill on 28 May 1941, providing for a Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. Walker Art Center
The Walker Art Center is a multidisciplinary contemporary art center in the Lowry Hill neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The Walker is one of the most-visited modern and contemporary art museums in the United States and, together with the adjacent Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the Cowles Conservatory, it has an annual attendance of around 700,000 visitors. The museum's permanent collection includes over 13,000 modern and contemporary art pieces including books, costumes, drawings, media works, paintings, photography, prints, and sculpture. Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center
The Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC), is an extension center of Virginia Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies, located in Old Town Alexandria. It houses the Master of Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Undergraduate Architecture programs for students from a wide variety of locations. Sited on an urban campus of six buildings in the heart of Old Town, WAAC allows upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design to address the complexities of urban areas using the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region as a resource laboratory for design and research. World Amazigh Congress
The World Amazigh Congress (CMA) (in Tamazight ⴰⴳⵔⴰⵡ ⴰⵎⴰⴹⵍⴰⵏ ⴰⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖ; ''Romanized'': Agraw Amaḍlan Amaziɣ) is an international non-governmental organization made up of Amazigh sociocultural and development associations from both North Africa and the diaspora to have a coordination and representation structure. It was founded at the first-ever congress held between 1-3 of September in 1995 in Saint-Rome-de-Dolan, France which brought together over a hundred delegates and representatives from Amazigh tribes and associations, from countries all over North Africa, Europe, and America. World Aeronautical Chart
A World Aeronautical Chart (WAC) is a type of aeronautical chart used for navigation by pilots of moderate speed aircraft and aircraft at high altitudes. They are at a scale of 1:1,000,000 (about 1 inch = 13.7 nautical miles or 16 statute miles). These charts are similar to sectional charts, and the symbols are the same. However, there is less detail at the smaller scale, so it is seldom used for visual flight rules flight at slower speeds or for local flights. WACs show topographic information, airports and radio navigational aids. They are useful for strategic flight planning, where a view of the entire flight area is useful. These charts are revised annually, except for several Alaskan charts and the Mexican/ Caribbean charts which are revised every 2 years. Australian WAC charts are amended every 3 to 5 years. An amateur radio operating award is earned by an amateur radio operator for establishing two-way communication (or "working") with other amateur radio stations. Awards are sponsored by national amateur radio societies, radio enthusiast magazines, or amateur radio clubs, and aim to promote activity on the amateur radio bands. Each award has its own set of rules and fees. Some awards require the amateur radio operator to have contacted other stations in a certain number of countries, Maidenhead grid locators, or counties. Because amateur radio operators are forbidden by regulation to accept financial compensation for their on-air activity, award recipients generally only receive a certificate, wooden plaque, or a small trophy as recognition of their award. ''Wide Awake Club'' (often abbreviated to ''WAC'') was a children's television series broadcast in the United Kingdom on the breakfast television channel TV-am between 1984 and 1989. The Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) was an organisation that was set up to create a unified and open platform to allow mobile software developers to more easily write applications usable on a variety of devices, operating systems and networks.
