Owned by Gray Television, the station has studios on Hildreth Street in West Bangor, and its transmitter is atop Peaked Mountain in Dixmont, Maine, Dixmont. Prior to 2017, WABI-TV was the flagship (broadcasting), flagship station of its founding owner Diversified Communications, which was owned by the Hildreth family of Bangor. WLBZ
WLBZ (channel 2) is a television station in Bangor, Maine, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on Mount Hope Avenue in Bangor, and its transmitter is located on Rider Bluff in Holden. Although identifying as a separate station in its own right, WLBZ is considered a semi-satellite of sister station WCSH (channel 6) in Portland. WLBZ's master control, as well as some internal operations, are housed at WCSH's studios on Congress Square in Downtown Portland. WLBZ clears all network programming as provided through its parent, simulcasts most of WCSH's newscasts (with local weather inserts) and airs most of its syndicated programming (though in some cases at different times). WBFB (97.1 MHz, "97-1 The Bear") is a commercial FM radio station in Bangor, Maine. The station is owned by Blueberry Broadcasting and airs a country music radio format, simulcast on sister stations WBFE in Bar Harbor and WMCM in Rockland. The transmitter is off Maine State Route 9 in Dixmont, Maine, using the same tower as WABI-TV. The studios and offices are on Target Industrial Circle in Bangor. WBFB begins each weekday with the syndicated, Nashville-based ''Bobby Bones Show'' from Premiere Networks. Local disc jockeys handle the other hours of the day. On Sunday mornings, ''Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40'' is heard. Car races from the Motor Racing Network are heard on some weekends. WTOS (910 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Bangor, Maine, United States. The station is owned by Blueberry Broadcasting. WTOS broadcasts a mainstream rock format, simulcast with WTOS-FM (105.1 FM) in Skowhegan and WTUX (101.1 FM) in Gouldsboro. WTOS's studios and offices are on Target Industrial Circle in Bangor. The transmitter is off Wilson Street in Brewer. The station broadcasts at 5,000 watts during the day. To protect other radio stations on AM 910 at night, it reduces power to 210 watts. Gray Television, Inc. is an American publicly traded television broadcasting company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1946 by James Harrison Gray as Gray Communications Systems, the company owns or operates 180 stations across the United States in 113 markets. Horace Hildreth
Horace Augustus Hildreth (December 2, 1902 – June 2, 1988) was born in Gardiner, Maine, the son of an attorney. Hildreth attended local schools before graduating from Bowdoin College in the class of 1925 and receiving his LL.B. from Harvard University in 1928. In Boston he joined the prestigious law firm of Ropes, Gray, Best, Coolidge and Rugg before returning to Maine with the desire for a political career. Elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 1940 and the Maine Senate in 1942, he served as 109th President of the Maine Senate for the 1943–1944 term. He won the Republican gubernatorial primary in 1944 and was elected the 59th Governor of Maine by a landslide margin. NTA Film Network
The NTA Film Network was an early American television network founded by Ely Landau in 1956. The network was not a full-time television network like CBS, NBC, or ABC. Rather, it operated on a part-time basis, broadcasting films and several first-run television programs from major Hollywood studios. Despite attracting over 100 affiliate stations and the financial support of Twentieth Century-Fox (which purchased a 50% share of NTA in November 1956), the network proved unprofitable and was discontinued by 1961. WWPI-LD (channel 16) is a low-power television station licensed to Fort Kent, Maine, United States, serving the Presque Isle, Maine area as an affiliate of NBC. It is owned by Gray Television alongside CBS/ Fox/ CW+ affiliate WAGM-TV (channel 8). The two stations share studios on Brewer Road in Presque Isle, where WWPI-LD's transmitter is also located.
