''Wú'' is the pinyin transliteration of the Chinese surname 吳 (Simplified Chinese 吴), which is a common surname (family name) in Mainland China. Wú (吳) is the sixth name listed in the Song Dynasty classic ''Hundred Family Surnames''. In 2019 Wu was the ninth most common surname in Mainland China. Chang Fu-mei (, born 10 October 1938) is a Taiwanese politician. She served as the Minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, subsequently Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission of the Executive Yuan in 2000–2008. Early life During her doctoral degree study in the United States, she was engaged in academic research in various prestigious institutions there. Her studies immersed her in the Occidental legal system and Roman law, enabling her to fully appreciate the merit of democracy.
