Empire Bay, New South Wales
Empire Bay is a suburb on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area. Empire Bay was originally known as ''Sorrento'' being the name of a large boarding house in the locality. The land was subdivided in 1905. The name changed to Empire Bay in 1908 when a Postal Receiving Office was opened in a building attached to the boarding house. The name was changed because there was already a post office named Sorrento in Victoria and Empire Bay was chosen because there was no other such name in the Commonwealth. 2021 Australian Census
The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). It had a response rate of 96.1%, up from the 95.1% at the 2016 census. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as 25,422,788, an increase of 8.6 per cent or 2,020,896 people over the previous 2016 census. Results from the 2021 census were released to the public on 28 June 2022 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website. A small amount of additional 2021 census data was released in October 2022 and in 2023. Australia's next census is scheduled to take place in 2026. Woy Woy Tunnel
The Woy Woy railway tunnel is a heritage-listed railway tunnel located between Wondabyne railway station, Wondabyne and Woy Woy railway station, Woy Woy stations on the Main Northern railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The dual-track tunnel was opened on 16 January 1888. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 28 June 2013. Description Woy Woy Tunnel is a double track railway tunnel passing beneath a Hawkesbury sandstone, sandstone ridge between Brisbane Water and Wondabyne, New South Wales, Mullet Creek. The tunnel is of brick construction throughout. The tunnel was originally built for Double-track railway, double track service and thus did not require widening when the line was duplicated in 1906. Terence Alan "Spike" Milligan (16 April 1918 – 27 February 2002) was an Irish comedian, writer, musician, poet, playwright and actor. Arthur Phillip (11 October 1738 – 31 August 1814) was a British Royal Navy officer who served as the first Governor of New South Wales, governor of the Colony of New South Wales.
