World Intellectual Property Day is List of minor secular observances#April, observed annually on 26 April. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to "Raising awareness, raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and Industrial design designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of economies and societies across the globe". 26 April was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970. Inventors' Day is a day of the year set aside by a country to recognise the contributions of inventors. Not all countries recognise Inventors' Day. Plant breeders' rights (PBR), also known as plant variety rights (PVR), are rights granted in certain places to the plant breeding, breeder of a new Plant variety (law), variety of plant that give the breeder exclusive exclusive control over the propagating material (including seed, cuttings, divisions, tissue culture) and harvested material (cut flowers, fruit, foliage) of a new variety for a number of years. The system of Plant breeders' rights is considered a sui generis form of intellectual property rights. The ''2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development'', adopted by all United Nations (UN) members in 2015, created 17 world Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Daren Tang
Daren Tang Heng Shim ( zh, 邓鸿森; born 1972) is the fifth and current Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He is also Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). Tang previously headed the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and was a trade lawyer for the government of Singapore. Education Tang holds a degree from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the Georgetown University Law Center. Career Lawyer Tang served as a trade lawyer and was a lead Singapore negotiator for the eventual United States-Singapore Free Trade Agreement signed May 6, 2003.
