Bill Lee (singer)
William Lee (August 21, 1916 – November 15, 1980) was an American playback singer who provided a voice or singing voice in many films, for actors in musicals and for many Disney characters. Biography Lee was born on August 21, 1916, in Johnson, Nebraska, and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. His initial musical focus was as a trombone player, but after singing in several college vocal groups, he decided to concentrate on his voice. He served as an ensign in the United States Navy during World War II, then moved to Hollywood upon discharge. The bulk of Lee's income consisted of singing commercials for radio and television, much of which Lee felt was "silly" but he appreciated the financial independence this work gave him. He sang the lead role in a 1953 Gordon Jenkins made-for-record musical entitled ''Seven Dreams''. William Lee (American Judge)
William Lee was an English-born American politician, military officer, and slaveowner. He served in the War of 1812 and in the Creek War as an officer in the Georgia Volunteer Militia. An early settler of Alabama, Lee attended the convention that drafted the Constitution of Alabama, and served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. In 1821 he was appointed as the first judge in Butler County. Biography Lee was born in the 1700s in England. He immigrated to the United States and worked as a plantation manager for Joel McClendon in Jones County, Georgia. He was not likely related to the Lee Family of Virginia whose immigrant ancestor Richard Lee I arrived in America around 1639 not the 1700s. William Lee (Australian Politician)
William Lee (1 April 1794 – 18 November 1870), also variously known as William Smith and William Pantoney until 1816, was an Australian pastoralist and politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1856 and 1860. Lee was a foremost pioneer of British colonisation in New South Wales, being amongst the first white men to take land in the Bathurst, Capertee, Bylong, Bogan and Lachlan River regions. Early life Lee was born in the penal settlement of Norfolk Island and was probably the illegitimate child of the convicts, Sarah Smith and William Pantoney. After Pantoney's emancipation, the family lived in Windsor and Lee, an industrious youth, was placed under the patronage of William Cox who took him to the newly colonised area of Bathurst in 1815. William Lee (August 31, 1739 – June 27, 1795) was a Virginia merchant and member of the Lee Family of Virginia who served as an American diplomat during the Revolutionary War, became a plantation owner through marriage, and represented Elizabeth City, Warwick and York Counties in the Virginia Senate. His son William Ludwell Lee (who survived him only by a decade) became an early Lee family genealogist as well as left a will freeing his slaves. Background Born at Stratford Hall Plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia, to planter Thomas Lee (1690–1750) and his wife, Hannah Harrison Ludwell (1701–1750). William Henry Fitzhugh Lee
William Henry Fitzhugh Lee (May 31, 1837 – October 15, 1891), known as Rooney Lee (often spelled "Roony" among friends and family) or W. H. F. Lee, was the second son of General Robert E. Lee and Mary Anna Custis. He was a planter, a Confederate cavalry General in the American Civil War, and later a Democratic Congressman from Virginia. Early life Lee was born at Arlington House in Arlington, Virginia, and named for William Henry Fitzhugh (d. 1830), his mother's uncle. William Raymond Lee
William Raymond Lee (August 15, 1807 – December 26, 1891) was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts. His father was also named William Raymond Lee and his mother was Hannah Lee (née Tracy). He married Helen Maria Amory and had 3 children: Elizabeth Amory (b. 1843), Arthur Tracy (1844–1870) and Robert Ives (b. 1846). He served as colonel of the 20th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment and led it during the Battle of Antietam. A veteran of several major battles, Lee suffered a mental break down the morning after Antietam and abandoned his regiment. According to a subordinate, Lee was found a few weeks later “without a cent in his pocket, without anything to eat, without having changed his clothes for 4 weeks, during all which time he had this terrible diarrhea….
