William X Of Aquitaine
William X (Occitan: ''Guillém X''; 1099 – 9 April 1137), called the Saint, was Duke of Aquitaine, Duke of Gascony, and Count of Poitou (as William VIII) from 1126 to 1137. Early life William was the son of William IX by his second wife Philippa of Toulouse. He was born in Toulouse during the brief period when his parents ruled the capital. His birth is recorded in the '' Chronicle of Saint-Maixent'' for the year 1099: ('a son was born to Count William, named William like himself'). Later that same year, much to Philippa's ire, Duke William IX mortgaged Toulouse to Philippa's cousin, Bertrand of Toulouse, and then left on crusade. William and his mother, Philippa, were left in Poitiers. When his father, William IX returned from his unsuccessful crusade, he took up with Dangerose, the wife of a vassal, and set aside his rightful wife, Philippa. This caused strain between father and son until 1121 when William X married Aénor de Châtellerault, a daughter of his father ...

William X Of Auvergne
William X or IX (died 1247) was the count of Auvergne from 1222 until his death. Before 1216, William's father, Guy II, attempted to arrange his son's marriage to a daughter of Count Guigues III of Forez, but the plans came to naught. In 1222, William succeeded his father as count and inherited his conflict with the French crown. At an unknown date before 1225, William married Alix, a daughter of Duke Henry I of Brabant. The marriage was almost certainly arranged by his father in an effort to improve relations with the crown, as Brabant was an ally of the king. Between 1222 and 1224, William X maintained contacts with King Henry III of England and received gifts from him. The ''Chronicle of Tours'' records that he signed a truce with Louis VIII of France (1223–1226) when the latter traversed Auvergne on his way south to join the war against the Cathars. His contacts with England were broken in 1228. A definitive peace with the French crown was only made under Louis IX in 123 ...

Guglielmo X Gonzaga, Duke Of Mantua
Guglielmo Gonzaga (24 April 1538 – 14 August 1587) was Duke of Mantua from 1550 to 1587, and of Montferrat from 1574 to 1587. He was the second son of Federico II Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and Margaret Palaeologina of Montferrat. In 1574, Montferrat was elevated to a Duchy and Guglielmo became its first duke. He was succeeded as Duke of both duchies by his son Vincenzo. Patron of music Guglielmo was particularly interested in sacred vocal music, and is known particularly to music historians for his extensive correspondence with the composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. He built a large new church in Mantua, dedicated to Santa Barbara. He engaged in an unprecedented negotiation with the Papacy to create his own rite for Mantua, and devoted considerable resources to developing a musical repertoire for the church, commissioning works by Giaches de Wert and Palestrina. Part of his correspondence with Palestrina discusses the work commissioned in detail, stipulating Guglielmo's ...
