Wicklow Senior Club Hurling Championship
Wicklow ( ; , meaning 'church of the toothless one'; ) is the county town of County Wicklow in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is located on the east of Ireland, south of Dublin. According to the 2022 census of Ireland, 2022 census, it had a population of 12,957 people. The town is to the east of the M11 motorway (Ireland), M11 route between Dublin and Wexford. It also has Rail transport in Ireland, railway links to Dublin, Wexford, Arklow, and Rosslare Europort. There is also a commercial port for timber and textile imports. The River Vartry is the main river flowing through the town. Geography Wicklow town forms a rough semicircle around Wicklow harbour. To the immediate north lies 'The Murrough', a grassy walking area beside the sea, and the eastern coastal strip. The Murrough is a place of growing commercial use, so much so that a road by-passing the town directly to the commercial part of the area commenced construction in 2008 and was completed in summer of 2010. Wicklow Friary
__NOTOC__ Wicklow Friary, also called Wicklow Abbey, is a ruined Franciscans, Franciscan friary located in Wicklow, Ireland, active in the 13th to 16th centuries. History Wicklow Friary was founded in 1252, during the reign of Henry III of England as Lord of Ireland, for the Order of Friars Minor Conventual (Grey Friars). Dundry stone was used in the three-light window. It had only of land and a meadow as an endowment; the monastery was partly funded by the sale of burial rights and bequests; in 1356 it is recorded that the friary received ten cows and a Barrel, vat of beer (worth 102 shillings) from a donor. About 1436 the monastery adopted the strict observance of the Observant Franciscans. It was Dissolution of the Monasteries, dissolved during the reign of Edward VI of England, Edward VI (r. 1547–53), with the last guardian Dermot O'Moore being expelled.
