White Sands Shopping Mall ( Chinese: 白沙购物中心), also known as White Sands, is a 5-storey shopping mall with retail outlets at the basement and two additional floors of basement carparks. It is located near Pasir Ris MRT station and Pasir Ris Bus Interchange. The mall is a gathering spot for conscripted soldiers due to the mall's close proximity to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, the location at which they are dropped off from the army camp on Pulau Tekong. History Developed by OCBC Properties Pte Ltd, a company owned by OCBC Bank, White Sands was the first major mall to be opened in Pasir Ris, being built at a cost of $130 million. It was 85% leased by December 1995. Pasir Ris ( or ) is a Planning Areas of Singapore, planning area and New towns of Singapore, residential town located in the East Region, Singapore, East Region of Singapore. Pasir Ris MRT Station
Pasir Ris MRT station () is an elevated Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West MRT line, East West line (EWL) in Pasir Ris, Singapore. Situated along Pasir Ris Central adjacent to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, Pasir Ris Mall and the White Sands Shopping Mall, Singapore, White Sands Shopping Mall, it is the eastern terminus of the EWL. The station exterior has the characteristic dome-shaped segmented roof also seen on other elevated EWL stations. The station opened on 16 December 1989 as the terminus of the MRT's eastern line extension. In 2016, two maintenance workers were Pasir Ris rail accident, run over and killed on the tracks away from the station. Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is an air-conditioned bus interchange located at Pasir Ris Town Centre, located inside the Pasir Ris 8 mixed-use development and is integrated with the Pasir Ris Mall. Apart from housing a bus interchange, the mixed-use development comprises a retail mall, condominium, town plaza, polyclinic and childcare facilities. It is located off Pasir Ris Drive 3, adjacent to Pasir Ris MRT station and near White Sands Shopping Centre. Pasir Ris Public Library is a public library in Pasir Ris, Singapore, located inside White Sands. It is near Pasir Ris MRT station and Pasir Ris Bus Interchange. It is the first shopping mall library to feature a special teens’ mezzanine, a dedicated space for teens to hang out, both for reading and leisure.
