Whippet (bus Company)
Whippet is a bus and coach operator based in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire, England. It is part of the Ascendal Group. History Whippet Coaches was founded in Huntingdonshire by bicycle salesman Henry Lee in 1919. The first Whippet coach was converted from an American ambulance. Originally based in the village of Hilton, they moved into a depot at Fenstanton in 1977. In 2009 the company moved to a depot at Swavesey, where they remain today. In November 2014, the business was sold to Transit Systems, the parent company of London bus company Tower Transit. In October 2018, Go Whippet was sold to the Ascendal Group, owned by Tower Transit's former CEO Adam Leishman. Whippet used to operate some summer-only services to the coast. These ran in various forms from 1957 up to 2013, and ultimately served Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Clacton-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea. Plaxton President
The Plaxton President is a Low-floor bus, low floor double-decker bus coachwork, body built by Plaxton at the former Northern Counties Motor & Engineering Company, Northern Counties factory in Wigan, England. It was first unveiled in 1997 on the longitudinal Volvo B7L chassis and later built between 1999 and 2005 following a body redesign. When it became part of TransBus International, the body was sold under the TransBus name. The President was built on the Dennis Trident 2, Dennis/TransBus Trident, the VDL DB250, DAF DB250 and the Volvo B7TL chassis. FlixBus (; styled FLiXBUS) is a German brand that offers low-cost Intercity bus service, intercity coach services in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Mellor Sigma
The Mellor Sigma is a battery electric single-deck bus range manufactured by Wisdom Motor in China and sold in Europe by Mellor Coachcraft between 2021 and 2024. It was available in various lengths, from 6.99 – 13.50 metres, with the shortest being marketed as the Mellor Sigma 7, and the longest as the Mellor Sigma 13. The Sigma was created as a zero-emission single deck vehicle, marketed as improving "demand for cleaner solutions to public transport". Mellor claim that there is a weight saving across all models compared to competitor vehicles, with capacities between 30 and 80 passengers depending on the vehicle size. Mellor initially launched the Sigma with the Sigma 7 and Sigma 10 models, with the Sigma 7 being a single door model and the Sigma 10 being a dual door model. West Cambridge
West Cambridge is a university site to the west of Cambridge city centre in England. As part of the ''West Cambridge Master Plan'', several of the University of Cambridge's departments have relocated to the West Cambridge site from the centre of town due to overcrowding. A number of other research institutions also have buildings on the site. Madingley Road is a major arterial road linking central Cambridge, England with Junction 13 of the M11 motorway. It passes by West Cambridge, a major new site where some University of Cambridge departments are being relocated. The road is designated the A1303. At the eastern end, the A1303 continues as Northampton Street, then Chesterton Lane and Chesterton Road. There is a junction with the A1134 ( Queen's Road) to the south. Clacton-on-Sea, often simply called Clacton, is a seaside town and seaside resort, resort in the county of Essex, on the east coast of England.
