Whiplash (Metallica Song)
"Whiplash" is a song by American thrash metal band Metallica. It was released as the first single from their debut album, ''Kill 'Em All'', and the band's debut single overall, released on August 8, 1983. The song has been covered a number of times, most notably by Motörhead, whose version won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The single also includes fake live performances of "Seek & Destroy" and "Phantom Lord", which are actually alternate studio recordings with overdubbed crowd noise. Live performances "Whiplash" was first played live in October 23, 1982, and was one of the last songs Metallica wrote for ''Kill 'Em All''. As of 2024 the song has been played 984 times. Vincent Samson Appice (born September 13, 1957) is an American rock and metal drummer best known for his work with the bands Dio (band), Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell (band), Heaven & Hell. Of Italian descent, he is the younger brother of drummer Carmine Appice. Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962) is an American musician who has been the lead guitarist of heavy metal band Metallica since 1983. Stone Gods were a British hard rock band formed by former members of The Darkness in 2006. Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982.
