"Whiplash" is a song by American thrash metal band Metallica. It was released as the first single from their debut album, ''Kill 'Em All'', and the band's debut single overall, released on August 8, 1983. The song has been covered a number of times, most notably by Motörhead, whose version won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The single also includes fake live performances of "Seek & Destroy" and "Phantom Lord", which are actually alternate studio recordings with overdubbed crowd noise. Live performances "Whiplash" was first played live in October 23, 1982, and was one of the last songs Metallica wrote for ''Kill 'Em All''. As of 2024 the song has been played 984 times. Vinny Appice
Vincent Samson Appice (born September 13, 1957) is an American rock and metal drummer best known for his work with the bands Dio (band), Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell (band), Heaven & Hell. Of Italian descent, he is the younger brother of drummer Carmine Appice. Career Pre-Black Sabbath Appice took up the drums at the age of nine, taking lessons from the same teacher as his brother Carmine Appice. When he was sixteen, Appice and his band BOMF met John Lennon at Record Plant Studios. Lennon took a liking to the group and used them as a backing band in several performances, including the final one before his death. Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962) is an American musician who has been the lead guitarist of heavy metal band Metallica since 1983. Prior to joining Metallica, he co-formed the thrash metal band Exodus in 1979. In 2023, Hammett, along with bandmate James Hetfield, was ranked 23rd on ''Rolling Stone'''s list of Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Stone Gods were a British hard rock band formed by former members of The Darkness in 2006. Destruction (band)
Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982. They have been credited as one of the "Big Four" of the Teutonic thrash metal, German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom (band), Sodom and Tankard (band), Tankard. Philip Hansen Anselmo (born June 30, 1968) is an American musician best known as the lead singer for groove metal band Pantera, southern metal supergroup Down, and hardcore band Superjoint, amongst other musical projects. He is the owner of Housecore Records. Anselmo is regarded as one of the most iconic frontmen in metal history, known for being particularly animated and donning a machismo attitude that became emblematic of the general theme of Pantera.
