History West Tisbury was first settled by English settlers in 1669 as part of the town of Tisbury, Massachusetts, Tisbury. The town was officially incorporated in 1892, the last town on Martha's Vineyard to be incorporated. Despite its separation from Tisbury, the original settlement of the town is still located in West Tisbury. Historically, it has been the agricultural heartland of the island. Tisbury is a New England town, town located on Martha's Vineyard in Dukes County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 4,815 at the 2020 census. Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, Vineyard Haven is the main village/town center of Tisbury. The two names are used interchangeably. Lambert's Cove
Lambert's Cove is a region in Tisbury and West Tisbury, Massachusetts, on the island of Martha's Vineyard. It extends from Upper Lambert's Cove in west Tisbury to Lower Lambert's Cove in Tisbury. Lambert's Cove Road accesses several roads of note, including Makonikey and Longview. It is known for its views of the hilly region of "up island." The road is one of the only access to West Tisbury's north shore coastline, and accesses the only public beach of the town.
