Mark Anthony Welsh III (born January 26, 1954) is the 27th president of Texas A&M University, former Dean of the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University, a retired United States Air Force four-star general, and a member of the board of directors of Northrop Grumman. Kenneth Clifford Welsh, (March 30, 1942 – May 5, 2022) was a Canadian actor, who made over 300 stage, film, and television appearances over a nearly 60-year career. Educated at the National Theatre School, he was a member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival for six years, before to New York and appearing in many Off-Broadway and Broadway plays. Beginning in the late 1970s, he worked regularly in film and television, both in Canada and the United States. Freddie Welsh (born Frederick Hall Thomas; 5 March 1886 – 29 July 1927) was a Welsh World boxing champion. The lightweight boxer was born in Pontypridd, Wales, nicknamed the "Welsh Wizard". Brought up in a tough mining community, Welsh left a working-class background to make a name for himself in America. He turned professional as a boxer in Philadelphia in 1905, and spent the best part of his career fighting in the United States. Welsh spent much of his career chasing the world championship title, held in turn by Battling Nelson, Ad Wolgast and Willie Ritchie, failing through a series of events to meet each until a successful encounter with Ritchie in July 1914, when he finally became world lightweight champion. Welsh held the title until 1917 when he lost to Benny Leonard, though he continued to fight sparingly until 1922. David Welsh FRSE (11 December 1793 – 24 April 1845) was a Scottish Presbyterian minister and academic. He was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1842. In the Disruption of 1843 he was one of the leading figures in the establishment of the Free Church of Scotland. Life Welsh was born at Braefoot Farm near Moffat on 11 December 1793, the youngest of 12 children of David Welsh, a sheep farmer at Earlhaugh and Tweedshaws, and his wife (and cousin) Margaret Welsh daughter of Alexander Welsh of Patervan. He was educated at Moffat Parish School, and tutored at home by Rev McWhir, later minister of Urr in Galloway, then David was sent to the High School in Edinburgh. He studied divinity at the University of Edinburgh and was licensed to preach in 1816 by the Presbytery of Lochmaben. In 1821 he was ordained as minister of Crossmichael.
