Webb County, Texas
Webb County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 267,114. Its county seat is Laredo. The county was named after James Webb (1792–1856), who served as secretary of the treasury, secretary of state, and attorney general of the Republic of Texas, and later judge of the United States District Court following the admission of Texas to statehood. By area, Webb County is the largest county in South Texas and the sixth-largest in the state. Webb County comprises the Laredo metropolitan area. Webb County is the only county in the United States to border three foreign states or provinces, sharing borders with Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. Webb County has a minority majority, with 95.2% of the population of the county identifying as Hispanic. The Republic of Texas (), or simply Texas, was a country in North America that existed for close to 10 years, from March 2, 1836, to February 19, 1846. Texas shared borders with Centralist Republic of Mexico, the Republic of the Rio Grande, and the United States. Laredo Community College
Laredo College (LC) is a public community college in Laredo, Texas. Founded as Laredo Junior College in 1947, it is part of the Laredo Independent School District. As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of LC includes the municipality of Laredo and all of Webb, Jim Hogg and Zapata counties. Encinal County
Encinal County was a former Texas county. Its area is now completely contained in the present Webb County. History Encinal County was established on February 1, 1856 and was to consist of the eastern portion of present-day Webb County. The law creating the county called for a county seat at an unspecified location to be called Encinal; however, the seat was never established. The present town of Encinal, located nearby in La Salle County, had not yet adopted its current name at the time Encinal County was created.
