Waśniów
Waśniów is a village in Ostrowiec County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Waśniów. It lies in historic Lesser Poland, approximately west of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and east of the regional capital Kielce. Waśniów is one of the oldest villages in the area. It had the status of a town from 1351 to 1869, and its name (also spelled as Waśniów) comes from a Slavic language word "wasn", which means an argument. The village was first mentioned in the year 1145, as Vasnov, later Wasnowe, and Wasnow. Following the order of Duke Mieszko III the Old, Waśniów, together with its market place, was granted to the Archbishops of Gniezno. Soon afterwards, in 1147, the village passed into the hands of Canons Regular from Trzemeszno. On January 7, 1351, King Kazimierz Wielki granted Sroda Slaska town charter to Waśniów. __NOTOC__ Gmina Waśniów is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Ostrowiec County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Waśniów, which lies approximately west of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and east of the regional capital Kielce. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 7,056. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Jeleniowska Landscape Park. Ostrowiec County
__NOTOC__ Ostrowiec County () is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, south-central Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, which lies east of the regional capital Kielce. The county also contains the towns of Ćmielów, lying south-east of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, and Kunów, west of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The county covers an area of . As of 2019 its total population is 109,512, out of which the population of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski is 68,641, that of Ćmielów is 3,012, that of Kunów is 2,967, and the rural population is 34,892. Sandomierz Voivodeship
Sandomierz Voivodeship (, ) was a unit of administration and local government in Poland from the 14th century to the partitions of Poland in 1772–1795. It was part of the Lesser Poland region and the Lesser Poland Province. Originally Sandomierz Voivodeship also covered the area around Lublin, but in 1474 its three eastern counties were organized into Lublin Voivodeship. In the 16th century, it had 374 parishes, 100 towns and 2586 villages. The voivodeship was based on the Sandomierz ''ziemia'', which earlier was the Duchy of Sandomierz. The Duchy of Sandomierz was created in 1138 by King Bolesław III Wrymouth, who in his testament divided Poland into five principalities.
