Warschauer Straße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Warschauer Straße is the eastern terminus station of lines U1 and U3 of the Berlin U-Bahn. History Designed by Paul Wittig under contract with Siemens & Halske and opened on 17 August 1902 under the name ''Warschauer Brücke'', the station was the first station of the Berlin elevated railway. The station consists of a 360 meter long and 26 meter wide brick viaduct. The station was closed at the end of World War II and did not open again until 14 October 1945. Warschauer Straße is a major thoroughfare in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district of central Berlin, the capital of Germany. The street begins at Frankfurter Tor to the north and spans 1.6km south to the intersection of the Oberbaumbrücke, Mühlenstraße and Stralauer Allee. Matrix (club)
Matrix is a nightclub in Berlin which opened in 1996. The large-scale discothèque is located at ''Warschauer Platz 18'' in ten basement vaults of the Warschauer Straße railway station. It houses up to nine bars and five dance floors, as well as an outdoor area. The venue has an overall size of 2,100 square meters, and is one of the biggest nightclubs in Berlin. In Germany, the club is known as one of the filming locations of the soap opera ''Berlin – Tag & Nacht'' of the channel RTL 2. Between 1996 and 2002 many international DJs of the electronic dance music scene such as Marusha, Chris Isaac, Westbam, Underground Resistance, Josh Wink, Lords of the Underground, Lady B, Sven Väth, Paul van Dyk performed at the club. East Side Gallery
The East Side Gallery () memorial in Berlin-Friedrichshain is a permanent open-air gallery on the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall in Mühlenstraße between the Berlin Ostbahnhof and the along the Spree. It consists of a series of murals painted directly on a long remnant of the Berlin Wall, located near the centre of Berlin, on Mühlenstraße in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. In the spring of 1990, after the opening of the Berlin Wall, this section was painted by 118 artists from 21 countries. The artists commented on the political changes of 1989/90 in a good hundred paintings on the side of the Wall that was formerly facing East Berlin. Due to urban development measures, it is no longer completely preserved, and instead of the originals from then, only the replicas from 2009 exist today. Oberbaumbrücke
The Oberbaum Bridge () is a double-deck bridge crossing Berlin, Germany's River Spree, considered one of the city's landmarks. It links Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, former boroughs that were divided by the Berlin Wall, and has become an important symbol of Berlin's unity. The lower deck of the bridge carries a roadway, which connects Oberbaum Straße to the south of the river with Warschauer Straße to the north.
