Wanneroo is a northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Geography As it is on the Swan Coastal Plain, the Wanneroo wetlands stretch parallel to the coastline and to the north and south of the suburb. Education Within the suburb of Wanneroo, there are three primary schools: Wanneroo Primary School, East Wanneroo Primary School, and St Anthony's Catholic Primary School. Wanneroo also has one high school, Wanneroo Secondary College. Major events Since 1909, the Wanneroo Agricultural Show, the state's largest regional agricultural show, is held annually within Wanneroo, typically during late November. Wanneroo Secondary College
Wanneroo Secondary College is an Independent Public secondary school in Wanneroo, a suburb north of Perth, Western Australia. Overview The school was established as Wanneroo High School in 1977, starting out with 180 Year 8 students. At the time, the school was the northernmost high school in Perth, with students coming from as far as Yanchep. In 1987, David John Holthouse, a student at Wanneroo Senior High School won the Beazley Medal, the most prestigious academic award for secondary school students in Western Australia. By 1988, the school had changed name to Wanneroo Senior High School. The school was renamed again in 2013 to Wanneroo Secondary College, coinciding with it becoming an Independent Public School. 2023 Wanneroo Bushfire
The 2023 Wanneroo bushfire began on 22 November 2023 in Mariginiup in the City of Wanneroo, Western Australia. The fire forced evacuations of residents and eighteen houses were destroyed. The fire destroyed over of land, including farmland and houses in localities in the City of Wanneroo and the adjoining City of Swan. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). Joondalup Drive
Joondalup Drive is a major distributor road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The road travels through the City of Joondalup's central business district and extends for a few kilometres east through neighbouring residential suburbs in the City of Wanneroo. The road was extended in 2005 to the northern suburb of Banksia Grove, Western Australia, Banksia Grove to provide easy access for residents to Joondalup's city centre, and to provide a complete connecting route to the Brand Highway from the Mitchell Freeway. Joondalup railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Yanchep line, 26 kilometres from Perth station serving the regional metropolitan city of Joondalup. History Joondalup station was built by Sabemo under a $5.2million contract. Construction began in November 1991. Whitfords railway station is a railway station located on the boundary of Padbury and Kingsley, suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Yanchep line, which is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. It is located in the median of the Mitchell Freeway, and consists of an elevated bus interchange on top of an island platform at ground level. Wanneroo Road
Wanneroo Road is a arterial highway in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia linking Joondanna and Yokine in the south with Wanneroo and Yanchep in the north. As part of State Route 60, it begins from Charles Street in the inner city and becomes Indian Ocean Drive up to Dongara. Originally a narrow and often country road with a single lane in each direction it has been periodically widened and (particularly north of Wanneroo) straightened. Transperth
Transperth is the public transport system for Perth and surrounding areas in Western Australia. It is managed by the Public Transport Authority (PTA), a state government organisation, and consists of train, bus and ferry services.
