Gĩkũyũ People
The Kikuyu (also ''Agĩkũyũ/Gĩkũyũ'') are a Bantu peoples, Bantu ethnic group native to Central Province (Kenya), Central Kenya. At a population of 8,148,668 as of 2019, they account for 17.13% of the total population of Kenya, making them Kenya's largest ethnic group. Wanjiku Kabira (born 15 November 1948) is an associate professor of literature at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Carolyne Wanjiku Tharau, most commonly known as Wanjiku the Teacher or Teacher Wanjiku, is a Kenyan comedian, actress and producer. Mercy Wanjiku Njoroge (born 10 June 1986) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the steeplechase. She finished fourth in 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2004 World Junior Championships as well as in the junior race at the 2005 World Cross Country Championships. She claimed the steeplechase title at the 2005 African Junior Athletics Championships. Moving into the senior ranks, at the 2006 World Cross Country Championships she finished twelfth in the long race, helping the Kenyans to the silver medal in the team competition. Teresa Wanjiku Mbugua (born 7 May 1974) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competed in road running and cross country running disciplines. She ran distances from the 10K run to the marathon and was active from 1997 to 2011.
