Wang Chin-cheng's Western House
The Beishan Old Western-style House () is a historical house in Jinsha Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. History Construction of the house began around 1918 or 1919 for the Wang family and was completed in 1932. The house was seized by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1937 and returned to the family in 1946. In 1954, the house was taken by the Republic of China Army. From 1956 to 1965, it was used as a storage depot for engineering materials. In 2015, the house was declared a historical building. On 29 September 2021, restoration work on the house began in a ceremony attended by Magistrate Yang Cheng-wu and descendants of the original owners. The restoration work was expected to cost around NT$40 million. Architecture The house was constructed with Western and Hokkien architectural elements. Jinsha, Kinmen
Jinsha Township (Kinsha) () is an urban township in the north-eastern corner of Greater Kinmen Island (Quemoy), Kinmen County, Fujian Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). It is in the Taiwan Strait, on the coast of mainland China. Geography Jinsha has a population of 19,465 and an area of . The township is the second largest by area of the six townships of Kinmen County. The township includes Cao Islet (Ts'ao Hsü; ), Hou Islet (), and other small islets. The Republic of China Army (ROCA), previously known as the Chinese Nationalist Army or Nationalist Revolutionary Army and unofficially as the Taiwanese Army, is the largest branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces. Yang Cheng-wu
Yang Cheng-wu (; born 26 June 1972) is a Taiwanese politician. He has served as Magistrate of Kinmen County since 25 December 2018, having won the office in the 2018 Taiwanese local elections. Prior to contesting the magistracy, Yang represented Kinmen County in the Legislative Yuan. Education Yang obtained his bachelor's degree in economics from Chinese Culture University and master's degree in business administration from University of Westminster in the United Kingdom. Hokkien architecture, also called Hoklo architecture or Minnan architecture, refers to the architectural style of the Hoklo people, a Han Chinese sub-group who have historically been the dominant demographic of the Southern Chinese province of Fujian (called "Hokkien" in the Hoklo language),and Taiwan, Singapore.
