Wang, Fan-sen
Wang Fan-sen ; born 25 October 1958) is a Taiwanese historian who is the current president of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System since 2022. He formerly served as acting president of Academia Sinica in 2016, after the resignation of Chi-Huey Wong. Career Wang earned his bachelor's and master's degree from National Taiwan University in 1980 and 1983, respectively. He began working for the (IHP) at Academia Sinica as an assistant research fellow in 1985, then completed a doctorate within Princeton University's Department of East Asian Studies in 1992. Upon his return to the IHP in 1993, he was promoted to associate researcher until 1998, when he became full researcher. In 2005, Wang was appointed a distinguished research fellow. Wang served as IHP director from 2003 to 2009. Academia Sinica president Chi-Huey Wong named Wang a vice president of the Academia Sinica on 1 January 2010. Fu Ssu-nien
Fu Ssu-nien (; 26 March 1896 – 20 December 1950) was a Chinese historian, linguist, and writer. He was one of the leaders of the May Fourth Movement in 1919. He was also one of the creators of the Academia Sinica, and was named director of the Institute of History and Philology upon its founding in 1928. Early years Fu was born on 26 March 1896 in Shandong, immediately after the First Sino-Japanese War, a time when the traditional systems were being challenged and revolutions were about to happen. In 1909, Fu entered the secondary school set up by Tianjin government, excelling in mathematics, English, and Chinese. In 1913, Fu was accepted by the preparatory school of Peking University where he ranked first upon graduation in humanities division. Humboldt Research Award
The Humboldt Research Award (), also known informally as the Humboldt Prize, is an award given by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany to internationally renowned scientists and scholars who work outside of Germany in recognition of their lifetime's research achievements. Recipients are "academics whose fundamental discoveries, new theories or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge academic achievements in the future".
