Brecon and Radnorshire () was a county constituency in Wales of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Created in 1918, it elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election. The constituency was abolished as part of the 2023 periodic review of Westminster constituencies and under the June 2023 final recommendations of the Boundary Commission for Wales. New Radnor () is a village and community in Powys, Wales. It is south of Radnor Forest, and was historically the county town of Radnorshire. In the 2001 census, the community's population of 410 was split evenly between male and female, in 192 households. The population at the 2011 census was 409. A44 Road
The A44 is a major road in the United Kingdom that runs from Oxford in southern England to Aberystwyth in west Wales. History The original (1923) route of the A44 was Chipping Norton to Aberystwyth. No changes were made to the route of the A44 in the early years. After the Second World War, the section between Rhayader and Llangurig was renumbered A470, as part of the long road in Wales that connects Cardiff on the south coast to Llandudno on the north coast. The A44 was extended to Oxford in the 1990s, replacing part of the A34 when the M40 motorway was completed. Old Radnor
Old Radnor () is a village and community in Powys, Wales. The community includes Old Radnor and the villages of Yardro, Dolyhir, Burlingjobb, Evenjobb (), Kinnerton and Walton. In the 2001 census and the 2011 census the community had a population of 741 (390 male and 351 female) in 323 households. Old Radnor lies on a lane off the A44 to the west of the Wales–England border. The 15th-century parish church, dedicated to Saint Stephen, is in Perpendicular Gothic style, and is noted for its early organ and organ case, early stained glass, fine rood screen and large pre-Norman font. Adjacent to it are earthworks known as Old Radnor Castle, but it is unclear if this was ever in fact a fortification. Riddings Brook, a tributary of the River Lugg, starts near Old Radnor. Tarmac is a British building materials company headquartered in Solihull, England. The company was formed as Lafarge Tarmac in March 2013, by the merger of Anglo American's Tarmac UK and Lafarge's operations in the United Kingdom. In July 2014, Anglo American agreed to sell its stake to Lafarge, to assist Lafarge in its merger with Holcim and allay competition concerns. Prior to 1999, Tarmac Plc was an aggregates to construction company dating from 1903. It was demerged in July 1999, with the Construction and Professional services arms forming Carillion plc. The aggregates and building materials side of the business retained the Tarmac name and was bought by Anglo American shortly afterwards.
