Walter Pérez (cyclist)
Walter Fernando Pérez (born 31 January 1975 in San Justo) is an Olympic gold medal-winning racing cyclist from Argentina. Pérez, who joined the Argentine cycling team in 1992, won the Cycling World Championships in 2004 and Men's Madison gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics with teammate Juan Curuchet. Walter also won two gold medals at the Pan American Games (2003 in Santo Domingo and 2007 in Rio de Janeiro). Walter carried the flag for his country at the opening ceremony of the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, México and 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. In 2008, he received the Gold Olimpia Award as the best athlete of the year from his country with Juan Curuchet; and in 2010 they won the Platinum Konex Award Konex Foundation Awards, or simply Konex Awards, are cultural awards from the Konex Foundation honouring Argentine cultural personalities. San Justo, Buenos Aires
San Justo is a city and the seat of government of La Matanza Partido, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. San Justo is a relatively prosperous city enjoying a variety of commercial and cultural resources. Its strategic location on National Highway 3 and Provincial Highway 4 (the Greater Buenos Aires beltway), make it among the most active, for its size, in the '' partido''. 2011 Pan American Games
The 2011 Pan American Games, officially the XVI Pan American Games, was an international multi-sport event that was held from October 14–30, 2011, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Some events were held in the nearby cities of Ciudad Guzmán, Puerto Vallarta, Lagos de Moreno and Tapalpa. It was the largest multi-sport event of 2011, with approximately 6,000 athletes from 42 nations participating in 36 sports. Cycling At The 2015 Pan American Games
Cycling competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held July 10 to 25, 2015 at four different venues. The BMX competitions took place at the Centennial Park Pan Am BMX Centre in Toronto, the mountain biking competitions happened at the Hardwood Ski and Bike (Hardwood Mountain Bike Park) in Oro-Medonte, due to naming rights the venue was known as the latter for the duration of the games. The road races happened in the streets of Downtown Toronto with the start and finish being adjacent to the Ontario Place West Channel. Finally the track cycling events occurred at the Milton Velodrome in Milton. The road cycling time trials happened in the streets surrounding the velodrome (Milton Time Trial Course).
