Walk-off Touchdowns
A walk-off touchdown is a touchdown scored in gridiron football that ends the game with the winning team being either behind or tied in points at the beginning of the play. This is considered the most spectacular and rare play during regulation time happening in the 4th quarter when the winning team is losing at the beginning of the play as opposed to being tied. The play clock must say :00 at the end of the play in the 4th quarter & it must be the last play of the game. A walk-off touchdown is much more common during overtime play because of the overtime rules in effect. The Hail Maryland, also referred to as the Madhouse in Maryland and the Miracle in Maryland, was an American football play that took place at the end of a National Football League (NFL) regular-season game between the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders on October 27, 2024. As time expired, Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a Hail Mary pass from his own 35-yard line that was tipped at the goal line by Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson amid a crowd of players and caught by Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown in the end zone to win 18–15. It was the first successful Hail Mary in the final ten seconds of an NFL game since the Hail Murray play in 2020, with Daniels being the second rookie since 2006 to successfully complete one. In Australian rules football, if a player takes a mark or is awarded a free kick before the siren sounds to end a quarter, and the siren sounds before the player takes a set shot, the player is allowed to take the kick after the siren. In timed sports, a buzzer beater is a successful shot made as the clock expires at the end of a period or at the end of the game, leaving zero seconds remaining. A buzzer sounds whenever a game clock expires, hence the name "buzzer beater." In basketball, the concept normally applies to baskets made at the end of a quarter, the second half, or overtime, but is sometimes applied to shots that beat the shot clock buzzer. A buzzer beater only counts if it leaves the player's fingers before the shot clock runs out. Walk-off Home Run
In baseball, a walk-off home run is a home run that ends the game. For a home run to end the game, it must be hit in the bottom of the final inning and generate enough runs to exceed the opponent's score. Because the opponent will not have an opportunity to score any more runs, there is no need to finish the inning and the team on defense will "walk off" the field while the player who hit the home run is rounding the bases. The conversion, try (American football), also known as a point(s) after touchdown, PAT, extra point, two-point conversion, or convert (Canadian football) is a gridiron football play that occurs immediately after a touchdown. The scoring team attempts to score one extra point by kicking the ball through the uprights in the manner of a field goal, or two points by passing or running the ball into the end zone in the manner of a touchdown.
