Waldenburg, Baden-Württemberg
Waldenburg is a hilltop town in south central Germany, eastwards of Heilbronn in the Hohenlohe (district) of Baden-Württemberg. The town is the site of Waldenburg Castle and some hilltop churches. Records first mention Waldenburg in the year 1253, but the town was destroyed in April 1945, at the end of World War II, and it has been rebuilt since. Waldenburg, Saxony
Waldenburg () is a town in the district Zwickau in Saxony, Germany. The castle was owned by the House of Schönburg from 1378 until 1945. The pottery town of Waldenburg lies in the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde. The environment is characterized by forest areas, river meadows and the hilly landscape of the Erzgebirge foothills. Waldenburg was founded around 1254 and first documented in 1336 as the town of "Waldinberg". The German settlement of the area that later became Waldenburg began with the founding of the monastery in Remse in 1143. The construction of Waldenburg Castle took place between 1165 and 1172. It was built as a security post on the salt trade route at the Mulden crossing. The streets, buildings and remains of the town wall in the upper town still show Waldenburg's roots in the Middle Ages. Wałbrzych (; ; or ''Walmbrich''; or ) is a city located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in southwestern Poland, seat of Wałbrzych County. Wałbrzych lies approximately southwest of the voivodeship capital Wrocław and about from the Czech Republic, Czech border. Wałbrzych has the status of municipality. Its administrative borders encompass an area of with 110,000 inhabitants, making it the second-largest city in the voivodeship and the 33rd largest in the country. Wałbrzych was once a major coal mining and industrial center alongside most of Silesia.
