Waldeck, The Hague
Waldeck is a subdistrict, wijk in the Loosduinen district, stadsdeel. Waldeck borders Kijkduin in the southwest, Bohemen en Meer en Bos in the northwest, Vruchtenbuurt in the northeast, Houtwijk in the southeast and Loosduinen in the south. One of the areas of Waldeck is the Componistenbuurt. Waldeck used to be part of te Loosduinen municipality which was largely annexed by The Hague in 1923 (except for Rustenburg/Oostbroek which was annexed in 1903 and Ockenburgh which was annexed in 1931). South Holland
South Holland ( nl, Zuid-Holland ) is a province of the Netherlands with a population of over 3.7 million as of October 2021 and a population density of about , making it the country's most populous province and one of the world's most densely populated areas. Loosduinen
Loosduinen () is a former village in the Netherlands that was a municipality unto itself until 1923, when it was annexed by The Hague and subsequently became a district of the city. Within the district there is also a neighbourhood (Dutch:wijk) called 'Loosduinen'. It has its own dialect, the Loosduinen dialect, which is very similar to The Hague dialect. History The area of modern-day Loosduinen has been inhabited for at least 4,500 years. Archaeologists have found many traces of previous civilisations during excavations. For example, traces of Romans and Cananefates have been found around the beginning of our era. The origin of the name Loosduinen, however, cannot be traced back in either objects that have been found during excavations and in literature. Kijkduin en Ockenburgh is a Dutch subdistrict of the Loosduinen district in The Hague. The subdistrict is located in the western part of The Hague at the municipal border of Monster. The area is bordered by the North Sea, an imaginary line between beach pole 105 and the De Savornin Lohmanlaan, the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan, the Duinlaan, the Kijkduinsestraat, the Ockenburghstraat, the Loosduinse Hoofdstraat, the Monsterseweg and the municipal border with Monster. Houtwijk
Houtwijk (roughly translated as "Wood District") is a neighbourhood of The Hague, located in the Loosduinen district, with more than 5,000 homes. Houtwijk mainly contains a lot of new constructions that were built both in and after the 1970s and 1980s. There are also both many owner-occupied and rental properties. While officially a neighbourhood of Loosduinen, some residents consider it its own subdistrict. This is mainly because its name contains ''wijk'' which translates to "district". History Houtwijk is young neighbourhood in comparison to other neighbourhoods in The Hague. The area was for a long time part of the village Loosduinen and during this period was a green area used by farmers with no residents living on it.
