WULM (1600 AM broadcasting, AM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Springfield, Ohio, United States, and features a Catholic Church in the United States, Catholic-oriented Christian radio, Christian format as a full-time owned-and-operated outlet of the "Radio Maria" network. History WULM's history dates back to 1946 when it was founded as commercial daytime station WJEL. At the time of its founding, the station was licensed in nearby Dayton, Ohio. Country music singer Donnie Bowser (Bowshier), a Springfield resident performed frequently on WJEL's live Saturday night program. WOLM "Radio Maria" (for: Our Loving Mother) is a non-commercial FM broadcasting station at 88.1 mHz licensed to D'Iberville, Mississippi and serving the D'Iberville and Biloxi areas. Its founder "Friends of Radio Maria" (which in addition airs Italian language programming on the FM subcarrier of New York City station WKTU) was the group that acquired the construction permit and start-up of WOLM in addition to sister stations WHJM which is licensed in Anna, Ohio and WRMW 91.1 FM licensed in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. All these stations are now owned by (and licensed to) Radio Maria Inc. WOLM began as a construction permit issued by the FCC in May 2007. KDEI (1250 AM broadcasting, AM "Radio Maria") is a radio station airing Catholic programming in Port Arthur, Texas. It is a Broadcast relay station, repeater station of KJMJ 580 kHz in Alexandria, Louisiana. History In Brownsville KDEI's history begins not in Port Arthur but in Brownsville, Texas, Brownsville, on the Mexican border, where KWWG was authorized on 1080 kHz in 1925. The next year, it moved to 1260 kHz in a time-share with KRGE, KRGV, which broadcast from Weslaco, Texas, Weslaco. The station was owned by the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Brownsville and by the ''Brownsville Herald'' newspaper after 1930. Violent storms hit south Texas in August 1933, leaving KWWG out of commission. When the station applied for renewal of its license, it also sought to be sold to Port Arthur College, which planned to move the station to Port Arthur. Anna is a village in Shelby County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,470 at the 2020 census. History Pre-historical period The prehistoric Teays River ran through modern-day Anna about 2 million years ago. The Teays river deposited loose sediment on the Greenville fault line which created a major earthquake center. Native American period According to the Native Americans, Tecumseh tried to start his alliances in what is now Anna. Most native Shawnee and Miami tribes refused the offer. He supposedly put a curse on the land. The curse stated that the land would be ever plagued with the trembling of the earth. Settlement The first white settlement at Anna was made in the 1830s.
