WDJX (99.7 MHz) is a Top 40/CHR-formatted radio station located in Louisville, Kentucky. The station has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 24 kW. The station's studios are located in downtown Louisville and the transmitter site is in New Albany, Indiana. WDJX is owned by Alpha Media. Station history WKLO-FM signed on in August 1962 as the FM sister to WKLO AM 1080. Initially, the station simulcasted much of WKLO's Top 40 format, breaking off after 6 p.m. to air classical music and showtunes, but eventually segued into a full-time simulcast by the end of the 1960s. When the FCC banned full-time AM-FM simulcasts in the late 1960s, WKLO-FM switched to an automated Top 40 format. In the early 1970s, WKLO-FM became WCSN with an automated Beautiful/Easy Listening format. WKJK (1080 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a talk radio format with some sports talk in middays. Licensed to Louisville, Kentucky, the station serves North-Central Kentucky and South-Central Indiana. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and features programming from iHeart subsidiary Premiere Radio Networks as well as Westwood One. The station's studios are located in the Louisville neighborhood of Watterson Park and the transmitter site is off East Daisy Lane in New Albany, Indiana. WKJK broadcasts HD Radio. WXMA
WXMA (102.3 FM) is a commercial radio station in Louisville, Kentucky. It is owned by Alpha Media and broadcasts a soft adult contemporary radio format known as "102.3 The Rose". WXMA's radio studios and offices are on South 4th Street in Downtown Louisville. WXMA has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,000 watts. The transmitter site is atop The 800 Apartments building, a few blocks from the studios. Station history 102.3 FM signed on as WLRS in 1964 as a stand-alone FM station for Louisville Radio School (hence the call-letters for the station). The station was used as a training ground for the school's broadcast students in its early years. In the late 1960s, station owner Clarence Henson entered into an agreement to sell WLRS to crosstown AM Top 40 WAKY, but the deal fell apart when WAKY did not meet the six-month deadline to complete the transaction. WGZB-FM
WGZB-FM (96.5 MHz, "B96.5") is a mainstream urban radio station in Louisville, Kentucky. Its city of license is Lanesville, Indiana, and its radio tower is located near Elizabeth, Indiana near the Ohio River, while its studios are located in downtown Louisville. The station is owned by Alpha Media. Station history WGZB-FM signed on April 15, 1990, with its present Urban Contemporary format under the "B-96.5" name, with offices and studios in the Cosmopolitan Building at Third and Kentucky. The original general manager was Managing Partner Rodney Burbridge. In its first few years on the air, the station was licensed to Corydon, Indiana and was handicapped with a signal that covered only half of Louisville's metro. Nevertheless, WGZB soon became the choice for Louisville's African American population (with approx. 200,000 African-Americans in the radio market as of Fall 2013) and was the final nail in the coffin for 1350 AM WLOU's long-running Urban format (1951-1995). WGHL (105.1 FM) is a commercial radio station located in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, broadcasting to the Louisville, Kentucky area. The station's studios are located in downtown Louisville and the transmitter site is in Jefferson Memorial Forest on the southern edge of Louisville/Jefferson County proper. WGHL is owned by Alpha Media. History 105.1 FM signed on in 1992 as Hot AC-formatted WEHR. It flipped to Christian music as WXLN in June 1996. In February 2000, the station flipped to active rock as "LRS 105", WLRS. Those call letters were formerly found on 102.3 FM from 1964 until 1999.
