Victoria Gowon
Victoria Hansatu Gowon (born 22 August 1945) is a Nigerian nurse and the third First Lady of Nigeria. She is married to General Yakubu Gowon who was Nigerian Head of State from 1966 to 1975. Biography Victoria Hansatu Zakari was born on 22 August 1946 to Malam Walter Bala, a civil servant and Lydia Fati Zakari in Zaria. She attended primary and secondary school in both Zaria and Kaduna. She completed her secondary education in 1964. She attended school of Nursing at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and qualified as a registered nurse in July 1968. The Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, Lagos is an Anglican cathedral on Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria. History The foundation stone for the first cathedral building was laid on 29 March 1867 and the cathedral was established in 1869. Construction of the current building to designs by architect Bagan Benjamin started on 1 November 1924. The foundation stone was laid by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) on 21 April 1925. It was completed in 1946. In 1976 the relics of Rev Dr Samuel Ajayi Crowther, a former enslaved Yoruba man who became the first African bishop in the Anglican Church, were translated to the cathedral.
