Victor Miller (writer)
Victor Brooke Miller (born May 14, 1940) is an American Scriptwriter, writer for film and television. He is best known for his screenplay of the original ''Friday the 13th (1980 film), Friday the 13th'' film, the popularity of which spawned a long Friday the 13th (franchise), series of sequels. Miller was not involved with any of the sequels, though he remains credited for creating the characters of Jason Voorhees, Pamela Voorhees, his mother Pamela, and the heroine Alice (Friday the 13th), Alice Hardy. He has also written for several daytime television series, for which he has won three Daytime Emmy Awards. His television work includes ''Guiding Light'', ''One Life to Live'', ''Another World (TV series), Another World'', and ''All My Children''. Milton Academy (also known as Milton) is a highly selective, coeducational, independent preparatory, boarding and day school in Milton, Massachusetts consisting of a grade 9–12 Upper School and a grade K–8 Lower School. Plot summary Ramon Salazar finds a black pearl so beautiful that his father is certain Ramon has found the fabled Pearl of Heaven. This find will bring renown to their town, and to the Salazar name. However, the pearl also has a curse that haunts the town and Salazar's family. Film adaptation Royal Productions and Universum Film produced a film adaptation of ''The Black Pearl''. Released in 1977, the film was directed by Saul Swimmer, written by Victor Miller, and featured performances by Gilbert Roland, Mario Custodio, and Carl Anderson. Mary Higgins Clark (born Mary Theresa Eleanor Higgins (December 24, 1927 – January 31, 2020) was an American author of suspense novels. Each of her 51 books was a bestseller in the United States and various European countries, and all of her novels remained in print , with her debut suspense novel, ''Where Are the Children?'', in its seventy-fifth printing. Higgins Clark began writing at an early age. After several years working as a secretary and copy editor, she spent a year as a stewardess for Pan-American Airlines before leaving her job to marry and start a family. Plot summary The main characters in the novel are Steve Peterson, whose wife Nina was murdered two years before, his six-year-old son Neil, who witnessed the murder, and Sharon Martin, a young journalist who befriends them both. The novel opens as Steve and Sharon debate capital punishment. A young man named Ronald Thompson has been sentenced to death for Nina's murder. Sharon is against the death penalty and tries to save Thompson. Unknown to them, Thompson is actually innocent. The real killer is a psychopath named August Rommel Taggart, Arty for short.
