It is a small, perennial herb with tubular yellow flowers, mainly growing in woodland and sub-alpine grasslands in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Description ''Velleia montana'' is a small herbaceous plant to high that forms a rosette. The leaves are oblanceolate to obovate, long, wide with toothed or smooth margins. The three sepals are separated, upper sepal oval to oblong-shaped and long. The yellow corolla is long, inner and outer surface covered with short, soft hairs.
