Gustav Veit
Aloys Constantin Conrad Gustav Veit (June 3, 1824 – April 20, 1903) was a German gynecologist and obstetrician who was a native of Leobschütz. He was the father of gynecologist Johann Veit (1852–1917). In 1848 he received his medical doctorate from the University of Halle, and following graduation remained in Halle as an assistant to Anton Friedrich Hohl (1789–1862) at the institute of maternity. In 1854 he attained the chair of obstetrics at the University of Rostock, and in 1864 moved to the University of Bonn as professor and director of the department of obstetrics. He died in Deyelsdorf. His name is associated with the " Mauriceau–Smellie–Veit maneuver", a procedure defined as a classical method of assisted breech delivery. Veit Harlan
Veit Harlan (22 September 1899 – 13 April 1964) was a German film director and actor. Harlan reached the highpoint of his career as a director in the Nazi era; most notably his antisemitic film ''Jud Süß'' (1940) makes him controversial. While viewed critically for his ideologies, a number of critics consider him a capable director on the grounds of such work as his ''Opfergang'' (1944). Life and career Harlan was born in Berlin, the son of the writer Walter Harlan and his wife Adele, nee Boothby. His elder brother Peter was a multi-instrumentalist and musical instrument maker. After studying under Max Reinhardt, he first appeared on the stage in 1915 and, after World War I, worked in the Berlin stage. In 1934 he starred in the Berlin premiere of Eugen Ortner's tragedy '' Meier Helmbrecht'', but it was a critical disaster and he later described it as his lowest point as an actor. Johann Georg Veit Engelhardt (November 12, 1791 – September 13, 1855), a German Protestant theologian. Life He was born at Neustadt-on-the-Aisch. He and was educated at Erlangen, where he afterwards taught in the gymnasium (1817), and became professor of theology in the university (1821). During the years 1845, 1847 and 1848 was the representative of his university in the diet at Munich. Veit Stoss (also: ''Veit Stoß'' and ''Stuoss''; pl, Wit Stwosz; before 1450about 20 September 1533) was a leading German sculptor, mostly working with wood, whose career covered the transition between the late Gothic and the Northern Renaissance. His style emphasized pathos and emotion, helped by his virtuoso carving of billowing drapery; it has been called "late Gothic Baroque". Veit Erbermann
Veit Erbermann (or Ebermann) (born on 25 May 1597 – died on 8 April 1675) was a German theologian and controversialist. He was born at Rendweisdorff, in Bavaria, to Lutheran parents, but at an early age he became a Roman Catholic, and on 30 May 1620, entered the Society of Jesus. After completing his ecclesiastical studies he taught philosophy and Scholastic theology, first at Mainz and afterwards at Würzburg. Subsequently he was appointed rector of the pontifical seminary at Fulda, which position he held for seven years. His theological attainments and zeal for the Church brought him into conflict with many of the leading Reformers of his time. He watched with a keen interest what in Protestant theological circles is known as "Syncretistic Controversy", and in his frequent encounters with its chief representatives proved himself an able champion of Catholicism.
