V1 Gallery
V1 Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the Meatpacking District of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded in 2002 by designer Jesper Elg and photographer Peter Funch. V1 Gallery gained international notability by being the first art gallery in Scandinavia to exhibit international street art pioneers such as Banksy (UK) and Eine (UK), the Faile artist collective (US/JAP), Futura 2000 (US), Zevs (FR) and OBEY / Shepard Fairey (US). The gallery has been listed as "Copenhagen's coolest art gallery" by The New York Times, and listed in ArtNet's "Best contemporary galleries in Europe". Zevs (artist)
Zevs (born Christophe Aguirre Schwarz on 17 November 1977 in Saverne, France) is a French street artist, best known for his trademark "liquidation" technique. He was an early and influential graffiti artist and active as a tagger in Paris in the 1990s. He is named after a regional train, Zeus, that almost ran him over one day he was down in the metro. Working with other French artists in the second half of the 1990s like André and Invader, Zevs has been among the prominent figures who pioneered the French street art scene. By the end of the 1990s he became known for his poetic drawings of shadows in Paris, shortly after the departure of Facundo Newbery from Paris. Later he 'bombed' models on the billboards between the eyes. Though his interventions have been very popular, it has been discussed in France whether it is vandalism or art. Neck Face (born 1984 in Stockton, California) is a graffiti artist known for a naïve and humorous style. His works have been shown in art galleries as well as on the streets. Early life and education Neck Face grew up in a large family and two of his brothers ran a graffiti shop where he spent a lot of time. He began tagging in Stockton, California during his junior year in high school. He went to School of Visual Arts, The School of Visual Arts in New York City, but said "I went to art school for two years and realized that it sucked... and dropped out" Work Neck Face's style can be described as naïve and scratchy. Dearraindrop
Dearraindrop is an artist collective based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dearraindrop incorporates diverse disciplines that work together to create multifaceted sculptures and installations. Part of the collective's operating philosophy is modeled on the idea that our greatest human capability is the ability to work together to achieve a greater goal. Dearraindrop work incorporates painting, collage, video, large-scale, interactive installation pieces, and hand-fabricated musical instruments. Jakob Boeskov
Jakob S. Boeskov is an artist based in New York. His work has been shown in museums such as New Museum and Stedelijk Museum. He is best known for infiltrating a Chinese weapons fair with his ID Sniper project but has also worked with music and film. ID Sniper In 2002, Boeskov and industrial designer Kristian Von Bengtson created a fake hi-tech weapon called the ID Sniper rifle. This fictive weapon could shoot off GPS chips into demonstrators so that the police later could locate them and "apply the punishment." Boeskov brought drawings of this weapon to a weapons fair in Beijing, China, where the weapon received positive reactions from real weapons dealers, politicians and policemen. Chris Johanson
Chris Johanson is an American painter and street artist. He is a member of San Francisco's Mission School art movement. Biography Johanson was born in suburban San Jose, California in 1968. He grew up skateboarding, attending punk rock shows, drawing, and with a dry yet sharp sense of humor. He has no formal training in art, learning some technique by painting skateboards and houses. He was a prominent 'zine artist, and his publication "Karmaboarder," a skateboarding and art zine he published in the early to late 1980s, helped shape what later became initial well-known works. Adam Green (musician)
Adam Green (born May 28, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter, artist and filmmaker. Green is well known for his involvement in the anti-folk music movement and as one half of the band the Moldy Peaches, alongside fellow singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson. Green has found success as a solo artist, enjoying increasing popularity in the United States as well as a number of European countries, particularly Germany. Career Music Green attended Emerson College for one semester in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson.
