The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (, abbr. VŠMU) is a university founded on June 9, 1949. Ľuboš Bernáth
Ľuboš Bernáth (born 8 November 1977 in Nové Zámky) is a Slovak people, Slovak composer and music educator. Educated at the conservatory in Bratislava from 1996 to 2001, he subsequently studied with the composer Evgeni Irshai. Since 2008-09 he has been a teacher at the Bratislava Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). His compositions include choral and chamber music, as well as two Symphony, symphonies. As a composer and conductor, Ľuboš Bernáth is represented at various festivals of contemporary music in Slovakia and internationally. In 2012, he was one of the co-founders of the youth orchestra EnsembleSpectrum at the VŠMU. In 2013 he became deputy chairman of the Slovak Composers' Association. He is a member of the Council for Science, Education and Culture of the Slovak Bishops' Conference. Adriana Kučerová
Adriana Kučerová (born 24 February 1976) is a Slovak operatic soprano. When she was 22 years old and almost finished with her university studies, she decided to go into a music career. Frank Kuznik of ''The Prague Post'' wrote, "To say that Adriana Kučerová came late to singing would be like saying that Mozart was just another composer". She had originally studied at Matej Bel University, working towards an education degree. Sylvia Čápová-Vizváry
Sylvia Čápová-Vizváry M. A., ArtD. (; born March 12, 1947, in Szombathely, Hungary) is a Slovakian pianist. Early life Čápová learned the basics of piano playing from her mother Gizela, a piano teacher. From childhood onwards, her abilities were recognised at numerous statewide competitions in Prague, where she received first prize on a number of occasions in succession. At the age of 7 she was admitted to the Conservatory and Academy of Music in Bratislava as a special student, and from 1965 to 1969 she studied at Bratislava VŠMU (University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna), followed, in 1969, by further study in Leningrad. Emília Vášáryová, Doctor Artis Dramaticae ( hon.) (; born 18 May 1942) is a Slovak stage and screen actress, whom '' Variety'' and other publications refer to as the "First Lady of Slovak Theater". Ladislav Slovák
Ladislav Slovák (10 September 1919, Veľké Leváre – 22 July 1999, Bratislava) was a Slovak conductor. He was a long-time director of the Slovak Philharmonic, taking over the job from his teacher and mentor Václav Talich. Amongst his most important recordings is the entire collection of Dmitri Shostakovich's fifteen symphonies with Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, published by Naxos Records. He studied in Leningrad under the Russian conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky, and met Shostakovich while participating in rehearsals of his music. Tatiana Pauhofová (born 13 August 1983) is a Slovak actress born in Bratislava. Life and career Tatiana (Táňa) Pauhofová studied Acting at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She was chosen among the 'Shooting Stars' of European Film Promotion in 2007. Martin Šulík
Martin Šulík (born 20 October 1962 in Žilina) is a Slovak film director. He studied film directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he graduated in 1986. His 2011 film ''Gypsy'' was selected as the Slovak entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist. Martin Sulik is also an avid painter, and his artwork has been shown in Bratislava Galleries. Zuzana Piussi
Zuzana Piussi (born 21 October 1971 in Bratislava) is a Slovak director and documentary filmmaker, as well as an actress. She graduated from the Department of Directing at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. From 1992 to 2000, she worked with the theater ''Stoka''. Miroslav Dvorský
Miroslav Dvorský (born 16 May 1960) is a Slovak people, Slovak operatic tenor of international renown who has had an active career since the early 1980s. Biography Born in Partizánske, Dvorský has a twin brother, Jaroslav Dvorský, who is also an opera singer. He has three more siblings, two of which also have opera careers: Peter Dvorský and Pavol Dvorský. His other brother, Vendelín Dvorský, is an economist. Dvorský earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the technical school in his native city.
