Budapest, the capital of Hungary has 23 districts (, ), each with its own Municipality, municipal government. The number of districts in Budapest Budapest was organized into 10 districts (numbered from I to X) in 1873 after the unification of the cities of Pest (city), Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The districts at that time: *Buda: I, II *Óbuda: III *Pest: IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X In the 1930s, 4 new districts were organized, numbered from XI to XIV. On 1 January 1950, 7 neighboring towns and 16 villages were annexed to Budapest by creating 9 new districts, so the number of its districts increased to 22. District IV was annexed to District V and the number IV was given to the northernmost newly merged town, Újpest. Rózsadomb
The area known as Rózsadomb (, ) is a wealthy area in the 2nd district of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. It is a member of the Buda Hills. Background Rózsadomb is part of the 2nd district of Budapest, in the Buda Hills, one of the most prestigious areas in Hungary. Most of the city's wealthiest and most famous residents live here (e.g. former prime minister Gordon Bajnai). House prices are amongst the highest in Hungary. The area has easy access to local parks and the forests and hills around the Buda area, while also reasonably near the downtown area. Although it is mostly covered with exclusive villas, many old, dilapidated buildings can also be found here, remaining from the pre-war era. Hegyvidék
Hegyvidék (, literally "''Highlands''", or "''Mountain-land''") is the official name of the XII district of Budapest (), capital of Hungary. It is a region of Buda, on the west bank of river Danube. Geography Being the only district in Buda which has not got a connection to the river Danube, it lies on the green, hilly suburban area of Budapest. It borders 2nd district to the north, the 1st district (Castle district and Gellérthegy) to the east and 11th district ( Kelenföld and Sashegy) to the south. Its western border marks the border of the whole city as well. The Everybody's Hungary People's Party (, MMN), previously known as Everybody's Hungary Movement, () is a Hungarian political party established to foster independent opposition and alternatives to Fidesz candidates in local elections. The Hungarian Socialist Party (, ), commonly known by its acronym MSZP (), is a centre-left to left-wing social-democratic and pro-European political party in Hungary. Momentum Movement
Momentum Movement (, Momentum) is a centrist Hungarian political party founded in March 2017. It came to national prominence as a political association in January 2017 after organizing a petition about the Budapest bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, calling for a public referendum on the matter. The petition, which gathered over 266,151 signatures, was successful, but the government cancelled the Olympic bid before a referendum could have been held. After its establishment as a political party, Momentum quickly built a national following, and presently has approximately 4,000 members. 2019 Budapest Assembly Election
The 2019 Budapest Assembly election was held on 13 October 2019, concurring with other local elections in Hungary. Voters elected the Mayor of Budapest, and the mayors of the 23 districts directly, while 9 seats in the assembly were distributed proportionally, taking into account votes cast for losing district mayoral candidates. Mayor Gergely Karácsony was elected mayor with 50.86% of the vote, defeating incumbent István Tarlós who held the office since 2010.
