Våler Municipality (Østfold)
Våler is a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is Kirkebygden. The parish of ''Vaaler'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). General information Name The Old Norse form of the name was ''Válir''. This is the plural form of ''váll'' which means "a clearing in the woods". Prior to 1921, the name was written "Vaaler". Coat-of-arms The coat-of-arms is from modern times. They were granted on 20 June 1986. The arms are based on the arms of the local Bolt family, who held several high functions in the 13th and 14th centuries. The arms are already seen in the seal of Agmund Berdorsson Bolt from 1400. The arms show a blue background divided in half vertically. Bolt Family
The Bolt family was an aristocratic family in Norway originating Østfold. Founded in the 14th century, it has spawned aristocratic titles including the Archbishop of Nidaros. The family's first known member is Kolbein Berdorsen at Flesberg in Våler, Østfold (mentioned 1333). From him descend two lineages through the sons Berdor (mentioned 1357–1370) and Aslak (mentioned as councilor in Oslo during the 1350s). History Descent and claims The House was founded in the 14th century by Kolbein Berdorsen at Flesberg (known 1333), from whom all members descend. The most prominent member of the family was Aslak Harniktsson Bolt (born about 1375, died 1450) who in 1407 became bishop of Oslo, 1408 in Bergen and 1428 archbishop. Vestby is a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. It is part of the Follo traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Vestby. General information Name The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old ''Vestby'' farm (Old Norse: ''Vestbýr''), since the first church was built here. The first element is ''vestr'' which means "west" and the last element is ''býr'' meaning "farm". The neighbouring farms have the names ''Østby'' ("eastern farm"), ''Sunnby'' ("southern farm"), and ''Nordby'' ("northern farm"); and they must all four be the parts of a bigger and older farm, whose name is now unknown. Skiptvet is a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Meieribyen. Skiptvet was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see ''formannskapsdistrikt''). Indre Østfold
Indre Østfold is a mostly rural countryside region north in the former county of Østfold county in Norway, noted for its mostly unspoilt nature and for its agriculture. At January 1. 2020 five of the municipalities of Indre Østfold merged into the new Indre Østfold municipality at the same date as the Østfold fylke and neighbouring Akershus fylke merged with Buskerud fylke and became regions in the new Viken fylke (county). Dennis Olsen (born 14 April 1996) is a Norwegian racing driver who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Proton Competition and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for Dinamic GT.
