Västerås SK Bandy is the women's bandy side of the Swedish sports club Västerås SK (other), Västerås SK, located in Västerås. The senior side currently plays in the Swedish Allsvenskan (women's bandy), Allsvenskan, the top-tier league of Swedish women's bandy, and has done so for a number of years. The club was the runner-up for the Swedish Championship in 2017. History The main club Västerås SK was founded on 29 January 1904. The women's bandy team plays its matches in the indoor ABB Arena#Arena Syd, ABB Arena South. The men's side is Västerås SK Bandy. In March 2019, the Västerås SK women's bandy team won its first Swedish bandy champions, Swedish championship title by defeating Skutskärs IF BK, Skutskärs IF, 5–3, in the final game following overtime and penalty shootout. Allsvenskan (; ), also known as Fotbollsallsvenskan (, ) is a professional association football league in Sweden and the highest level of the Swedish football league system. Founded in 1924, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Superettan, the second highest league in the Swedish football, Swedish men's football league system. Seasons run from late March or early April to the beginning of November, with the 16 clubs all meeting each other twice, resulting in a 30-match season, for a total of 240 matches league-wide. Allsvenskan is ranked 23rd in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Allsvenskan is currently ranked third highest among the leagues in Scandinavia, after UEFA coefficient#Current ranking, Norway and Denmark.
