The Västergötlands Fotbollförbund ''(Västergötland Football Association)'' is one of the 24 district organisations of the Swedish Football Association. It administers lower tier football in the historical province of Västergötland. Background Västergötlands Fotbollförbund, commonly referred to as Västergötlands FF, is the governing body for football in the historical province of Västergötland, which partly corresponds with the area now covered by Västra Götaland County. The Association was founded on 17 March 1918 and currently has 279 member clubs. Based in Skövde, the Association's Chairman is Magnus Gunnarsson. Skövde
Skövde () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and urban centre in Skövde Municipality and Västra Götaland County, in the Västergötland, Västergötland (Western Gothland region) in central southern Sweden. Skövde is situated around 150 km northeast of Gothenburg, between Sweden's two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern. It lies on the eastern slope of a low mountain ridge, Billingen (304 m), which cuts through the plain between the lakes. The Western Main Railway (Rail transport in Sweden, Västra Stambanan) was built through Skövde in the 1850s, which gave the town a dramatic industrial and population boost. IFK Mariestad
IFK Mariestad is a Swedish football team based in Mariestad currently playing in Swedish Division 3, Division 3 Mellersta Götaland . Background IFK Mariestad was formed on the 18 December 1985 when the men's football section broke away from Mariestad Bois to form an independent club. Their home ground is at the Lekevi IP. From its beginnings in Division 6 IFK have progressed slowly and followed their business plan with key objectives and milestones. The club's goal has always been to become an established Division 3 team and in 1999 this target was achieved. However as a newcomer in Division 3 the standard of football was found to be higher than expected and they were relegated back to Division 4 at the end of the season. IF Heimer
IF Heimer was a Swedish football club located in Lidköping in Lidköping Municipality, Västra Götaland County. Background IF Heimer was a sports club from Lidköping that was founded by several young men in the town on 18 March 1906. Since their foundation IF Heimer has participated mainly in the middle divisions of the Swedish football league system. Their best period was in the 1920s including the years 1925 to 1928 when they played in Division 2 Västsvenska which was then the second tier of Swedish football. In 1941 they played a Division 2 promotion qualification match with Skogen before 4,027 spectators but their all time attendance record was the 4,178 people who attended a friendly match against IFK Norrkoping in 1948. The lowest point for the club was in 1952 when they finished bottom of Division 5 but they subsequently played many years in Division 3 followed by spells in Division 2 over the last two decades. Idrottsföreningen Elfsborg, more commonly known as IF Elfsborg or simply Elfsborg (), is a professional association football, football club based in Borås, Sweden, and is affiliated to the Västergötlands Fotbollförbund. They play in the Allsvenskan and have spent most of their history in the top tier of Swedish football. Their homeground is Borås Arena, where they have played since 17 April 2005.
