Vânia Bastos
Vânia Bastos (born May 13, 1956) is a Brazilian singer, who began her professional life with the Vanguarda Paulista avant-garde movement in the early 1980s. Biography Bastos moved to São Paulo in 1975, to study sociology and singing. In 1980, she began her career as vocalist of Arrigo Barnabé's ''Sabor de Veneno'' band. She was the main soloist of Barnabé's 1983 album '' Tubarões Voadores'', and participated in presentations and recordings with Itamar Assumpção, the other important name of the Vanguarda. Joelho De Porco
Joelho de Porco (lit. "Pig's Knee" but more precisely "Ham Hock") is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1972 in São Paulo. They are known for their musical eclecticism and their role in pioneering punk in Brazil. History Context and formation In 1965, the group The Skeletons was formed in São Paulo. Later, they changed their name to Os Abrasivos. Their line-up involved Fábio Gasparini and Eduardo Zocchi on the guitars and Próspero Albanese on the drums. Vanguarda Paulistana
Vanguarda Paulista, also named Vanguarda Paulistana (''São Paulo Avant-garde)'' was the name given to a Brazilian cultural movement which happened in São Paulo between 1979 and 1985, at the final years of the Brazilian military dictatorship. The moniker was given by city's journalists and music critics, by its avant-garde aspect and referring to one of the venues where the artists performed: the Teatro Lira Paulistana, in the neighborhood of Pinheiros, from which a record label and publishing house were also spun. Assumpção built a strong reputation in the Brazilian independent and alternative music scenes during the 1980s and 1990s, particularly in his home state of São Paulo.
