Gyula Vályi
Gyula Vályi (25 January 1855, Neumarkt am Mieresch, Austrian Empire (now Târgu Mureş, Romania) – 13 October 1913, Kolozsvár, Austria-Hungary (now Cluj-Napoca, Romania)) was a Hungarian mathematician and theoretical physicist, a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, known for his work on mathematical analysis, geometry, and number theory. Life and work Vályi was born in Marosvásárhely, the town of the famous mathematicians Farkas Bolyai and János Bolyai. He attended the Reformed College in Marosvásárhely . After graduating from school, he went to Kolozsvár, the capital of Transylvania, where he attended the Franz Joseph University. After qualifying as a teacher of mathematics and physics Vályi was awarded a scholarship to allow him to study for two years at the University of Berlin, where the remarkable mathematics team of Kummer, Borchardt, Weierstrass and Kronecker were lecturing. Ján Vályi
Ján Vályi or János Vályi (22 September 1837 – 19 November 1911) was a Slovak Greek Catholic hierarch. He was the bishop of Slovak Catholic Metropolitan Archeparchy of Prešov, Slovak Catholic Eparchy of Prešov from 1883 to 1911. Born in Gávavencsellő, Vencsellő, Austrian Empire (present day – Hungary) in 1837, he was Holy Orders, ordained a Priesthood (Catholic Church), priest on 26 October 1865. He was appointed as the Bishop of Eparchy by the Holy See on 15 March 1883. He was Consecration, consecrated to the Episcopal polity, Episcopate on 20 May 1883. The principal consecrator was Bishop Ivan Pasteliy, and the principal co-consecrator were Bishop Juraj Čásky and Bishop Lörinc Schlauch. He died in Prešov on 19 November 1911. References

Péter Vályi
Péter Vályi (25 December 1919 – 18 September 1973) was a Hungarian politician who had been the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers, equivalent to Deputy Prime Minister from 1971 until his accidental death in 1973, and had served as Minister of Finance between 1967 and 1971. Career Vályi was born into a Jewish family in Szombathely, as the son of merchant Manó Vályi and Rózsa Pollák. His brothers were art historian Gábor Vályi (1922–2003) and trade manager Sándor Vályi (1924–2015). Vályi worked as a chemical engineer. He was arrested in 1945 because of his communist activities. He joined the Hungarian Communist Party in the same year. From 1948 he worked for the National Planning Board. From May 1971 onward he served as deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers (Deputy Prime Minister), second to Chairman Jenő Fock.
